Editor's Note [Positives]
  • Metal unibody design makes for a premium feel, and good looks
  • Compact 5-inch form factor, with a slight curve on the back, makes it easy to hold - people who like (relatively) smaller phones will appreciate the design
  • The full HD display is crisp and vibrant, and has decent sunlight legibility
  • Lenovo has kept the UI close to stock Android, which is a good thing and keeps things clean and swift
  • Decent overall performance with 3GB RAM and Snapdragon 430 processor - multitasking is not an issue especially if your main use case is browsing the Internet, and watching videos - heavy games like Asphalt 8 do tend to lag a bit though
  • Heat management is excellent with the phone not heating up even when put under stress
  • Decent rear camera - in bright daylight, pictures come out nice, and colors are natural - low light performance is pretty average though
  • Decent front 8MP camera - capable of clicking some good selfies
  • TheatreMax support for VR
  • Good audio quality with Dolby Atmos support - especially if you use your own high quality headphones
  • Excellent battery life - with moderate use, the phone can last up to 2 days
  • Compact, smart looking, premium design with a metal build - very similar to the Redmi Note 3, but more easy to handle (because of the smaller size)
  • Excellent ergonomics, with the curves on the back making the phone very comfortable to hold
  • Light-weight with an excellent weight distribution, despite the large battery it holds inside
  • Nice, vibrant, and bright display, with excellent touch-responsiveness, and good viewing angles
  • MIUI is a one of the better Android skins around
  • Very good speed/performance - one of the best in this price range
  • Decent camera
  • Excellent battery life - easily lasts a day and a half in regular use
  • Good audio quality
Editor's Note [Negatives]
  • Although overall performance is pretty decent, it falls behind its top rivals like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3
  • Lenovo has kept the speakers at the back, which means that if you place it flat on a table, the sound is muffled, even with Dolby Atmos mode on
  • Lacks fast-charging support
  • Camera is decent, and almost at par with the more expensive Redmi Note 3, but still could have been better, especially with low light performance
  • Loudspeaker volume could have been better
