Editor's Note [Positives]
  • Compact, smart looking, premium design with a metal build - very similar to the Redmi Note 3, but more easy to handle (because of the smaller size)
  • Excellent ergonomics, with the curves on the back making the phone very comfortable to hold
  • Light-weight with an excellent weight distribution, despite the large battery it holds inside
  • Nice, vibrant, and bright display, with excellent touch-responsiveness, and good viewing angles
  • MIUI is a one of the better Android skins around
  • Very good speed/performance - one of the best in this price range
  • Decent camera
  • Excellent battery life - easily lasts a day and a half in regular use
  • Good audio quality
  • High-end, premium metal design, and excellent build quality - befitting a much more expensive phone
  • Impressive, bright display, with great color accuracy
  • Fast fingerprint reader
  • MIUI on top of Android works great, runs fast, and has excellent theming and customization options, making it easy to find the look you want
  • Powerful Spandragon 625 chipset ensures smooth, effortless performance all throughout
  • Good loudspeaker
  • Pretty decent camera - although it tends to produce photos a little bit on the soft side - but on the whole it's good, and a significant improvement over the Redmi Note 3
  • Top-notch battery life - again, improved even over the already very good Redmi Note 3 - even with heavy usage, you can get close to two full days out of it
Editor's Note [Negatives]
  • Camera is decent, and almost at par with the more expensive Redmi Note 3, but still could have been better, especially with low light performance
  • Loudspeaker volume could have been better
  • Audio quality via headphones is average
  • Doesn't use the new USB-C standard
