Editor's Note [Positives]
  • Good build quality
  • Nice, classy, premium design
  • Light-weight
  • The soft matte finish, the curved back design and flat edges along the spine adds to the good grip of the phone
  • Decent, large display - with rich colors, wide viewing angles, and good sunlight legibility - resolution is on the lower end though
  • The display also, thankfully, does not smudge easily like other budget phones
  • Colorful UI, with attractive themes
  • Decent performance in day-to-day use - handles social networking, web browsing, movie playback and YouTube videos quite well (although it struggles with more heavy tasks)
  • Good front camera - comfortably one of the best in this price range
  • Decent battery life - lasts the day with light to moderate use
  • Very good build quality with aluminum inner frame for higher stability
  • Good ergonomics - soft matte rear texture offers good amount of grip and good in-hand feel
  • Beautiful design with large screen to body ratio and metal band around the edges
  • Good display - bright, vibrant, and has true-to-life color reproduction, and decent sunlight legibility
  • Quick and accurate fingerprint scanner
  • Very good speed/performance
  • Good camera - takes good looking vibrant images, with impressive detailing in close-ups
  • Very good audio quality
  • Very good battery life
Editor's Note [Negatives]
  • Average rear camera - not the best when it comes to detail and colour reproduction
  • The CoolUI on top of Android lacks finesse
  • There's also Coolpad's Xploree keyboard, with its integrated Yahoo search and tracking that displays targeted ads which can be annoying (although this can be disabled)
