Editor's Note [Positives]
  • Good looking design
  • Unique back panel gives it a touch of class
  • Thanks to the flat sides and the phone's compact form-factor, it will fit snugly in your hand
  • Decent display overall with good viewing angles, and sunlight legibility
  • Mostly stock Android interface with app icons customized
  • Useful panic button tool which sends out calls and text messages to friends when you press the volume and power button together
  • Regional language integration in 20 Indian languages
  • Speed/performance is decent for basic use (although it starts to struggle when you multi-task)
  • Compact, smart looking, premium design with a metal build - very similar to the Redmi Note 3, but more easy to handle (because of the smaller size)
  • Excellent ergonomics, with the curves on the back making the phone very comfortable to hold
  • Light-weight with an excellent weight distribution, despite the large battery it holds inside
  • Nice, vibrant, and bright display, with excellent touch-responsiveness, and good viewing angles
  • MIUI is a one of the better Android skins around
  • Good speed/performance (though multi-tasking performance is a notch below the Redmi 3s Prime because of lesser RAM)
  • Excellent battery life - easily lasts a day and a half in regular use
  • Fast, accurate fingerprint sensor
  • Good audio quality
Editor's Note [Negatives]
  • The glossiness of the back panel makes it a little slippery
  • Display colors are a little washed out, and it tends to pick up smudges easily
  • The 2, 200mAh battery barely manages a full day's backup
  • Mediocre camera, musters only average looking shots even in well lit outdoor conditions
  • Camera is decent, and almost at par with the more expensive Redmi Note 3, but still could have been better, especially with low light performance
  • Loudspeaker volume could have been better
