Editor's Note [Positives]
  • Good build quality
  • Nice metal unibody design and brushed metal finish - feels good to hold
  • Smaller and slimmer than the K4 Note
  • Bundled clear cover for protecting the phone
  • Good display - solid brightness levels, contrast ratio, sunlight legibility and viewing angles
  • Display has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection unlike the K4 Note
  • Lenovo’s Vibe UI adds some useful features on top of Android
  • Good speed/performance, including with games
  • Multitasking is smooth too, thanks to the ample RAM
  • Built-in support for VR glasses, similar to the K4 Note (ANT VR headset has to be purchased separately)
  • Decent, fast rear camera, especially for daylight shots - macro shots are good too and HDR shots came out well
  • The 8MP front-facing camera is good for selfies and video chats - colors are vibrant and the images are sharp as well
  • Fast fingerprint sensor
  • Thanks to Dolby Atmos, Wolfson WM8281 audio codec and 1.5W speaker, loudspeaker output is good and clear even in full volume
  • Audio output through headphones is good as well
  • Good call quality
  • Good battery life - a definite improvement over the K4 Note - lasts a full day
  • Useful power saving modes to further reduce battery consumption
  • Good build quality and design
  • Polycarbonate back that has a smooth matte finish which looks and feels good
  • Fits perfectly in hand and isn’t slippery either, offering a nice grip when holding
  • Good Super AMOLED display - good color reproduction, sharpness, viewing angles and an above average sunlight readability
  • Customizable display mode - Adaptive display, AMOLED cinema, AMOLED photo, and Basic
  • Samsung's custom UI over Android adds useful features like the Ultra data saving mode, and the S Bike mode
  • Butter smooth performance without any noticeable lag
  • Decent camera - the daylight shots and macro shots are impressive with fine amount of details and sharpness - low light performance is average though
  • Front facing LED flash for the front camera
  • Decent sound quality via headphones
  • Good call quality/reception
  • Decent battery life - good for one full day - with moderate use
  • Also comes with Ultra power saver mode, which saves juices by applying a greyscale theme to your home screen and limiting the number of usable apps
Editor's Note [Negatives]
  • Hybrid dual SIM slot lets you either use dual SIMS or a memory card, but not both together
  • No special support for quick charging unlike some of its competitors
  • Low-light camera performance of the phone is strictly average - with plenty of noise in the shots
  • No fingerprint sensor
  • No notification light, which is present in most mid-range smartphones nowadays
  • The audio output on the speaker is on the low side
  • No quick charging technology on the battery
