Editor's Note [Positives]
  • Good build quality with a fibreglass frame to keep the weight down and a magnesium alloy roll cage for sturdiness
  • Chic, premium design (similar to the iPhone 5S)
  • Compact, convenient size with a 5-inch screen making it one of the few easy-to-handle premium smartphones in the market today - something that will appeal to a lot of people who want power and quality, but not large phablet-esque dimensions
  • Manages to keep a relatively slim profile and manageable weight of 150g
  • Fast, accurate fingerprint sensor (embedded in the home button) - significantly improved compared to the Zuk Z1
  • Extended home button functionality is very nicely implemented, and allows for quick navigation via gestures
  • Very good display - sharp, clean and bright, with colours that are fairly accurate and natural-looking
  • Display customization options includes colour temperature, as well as a night mode
  • Lenovo's ZUI launcher, is mostly stock Android, with a few customisations
  • Excellent speed/performance throughout - on par with top-end Android flagship smartphones - and yet at a mid-range price!
  • Very good battery life - can muster over a day and half with moderate use
  • Decent call quality
  • Decent rear camera - handles colours and finer details well
  • The 8-megapixel on the front is also good and delivers crisp and wide shots
  • Excellent build quality
  • Beautiful, premium, stunning design with a curved backing - this phone is a looker
  • Rounded rear makes it comfortable to hold
  • Compact and light-weight - fits snugly in your pocket
  • Excellent display with good brightness levels, high contrast, and outdoor readability
  • MIUI is one of the better, and neater Android UIs around and has useful customization options
  • Excellent performance with top-of-the-line hardware, that stands up against the very best, including the Galaxy S7 which is at a much higher price point
  • Very good camera performance with instant focus, fast shutter speed, better than expected low-light performance, plenty of resolved detail, high dynamic range, and excellent colors and contrast
  • Very good battery life, with fast charging support
  • Excellent audio quality
  • Good fingerprint scanner
Editor's Note [Negatives]
  • As is the case with phones that have a glass back, it is a bit of a smudge magnet
  • The charger included in the box is an ordinary 10W unit rather than a Fast Charge 3.0 capable charger - which means that the phone's fast charging capabilities don't get fully utilized
  • Average loudspeaker
  • Video recording quality is underwhelming
