Editor's Note [Positives]
  • Well built
  • Nice the attention to detail - the curves are all in the right places and the phone feels extremely comfortable and light when held in the hand
  • Unique Smart Glow feature that offers a different take on a notifications LED
  • The Super AMOLED display is vibrant, has good viewing angles, and decent sunlight legibility
  • Samsung's Touchwiz over Android is one of the better Android UIs
  • Decent camera performance, in well lit conditions
  • Fast shutter speed, with negligible delay between shots
  • Good battery life - one can easily manage a full day of use
  • Compact, smart looking, premium design with a metal build - very similar to the Redmi Note 3, but more easy to handle (because of the smaller size)
  • Excellent ergonomics, with the curves on the back making the phone very comfortable to hold
  • Light-weight with an excellent weight distribution, despite the large battery it holds inside
  • Nice, vibrant, and bright display, with excellent touch-responsiveness, and good viewing angles
  • MIUI is a one of the better Android skins around
  • Good speed/performance (though multi-tasking performance is a notch below the Redmi 3s Prime because of lesser RAM)
  • Excellent battery life - easily lasts a day and a half in regular use
  • Fast, accurate fingerprint sensor
  • Good audio quality
Editor's Note [Negatives]
  • Display lacks an ambient light sensor so it won't adjust brightness levels on its own
  • Performance is smooth in daily use, but is a definite step behind the phone's top peers in this price bracket
  • Poor low light performance of the camera
  • 8 GB of internal storage will be a limiting factor if you install a lot of apps/games
  • Camera is decent, and almost at par with the more expensive Redmi Note 3, but still could have been better, especially with low light performance
  • Loudspeaker volume could have been better
