2-minute Review [Positives]
  • Nice looking design - similar to Zenfone 4 Selfie Dual Camera and the ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro
  • While the body of the smartphone is made of plastic it looks and feel premium
  • The curved sides and rounded edges makes it comfortable to hold
  • The finish on the body makes the phone easy to grip
  • Accurate fingerprint scanner (though it could have been faster)
  • Decent 5.5-inch IPS display with 2.5D curved glass - has good colour reproduction, viewing angles, and sunlight legibility
  • Zen UI on top of Android is now much more streamlined and close to stock than before - which keeps things simple
  • Additional features like gestures, one-handed mode, game mode etc are useful too
  • Good, reliable day-to-day performance backed by an efficient Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor
  • Decent front camera with live beautification mode that can be useful if you are into vlogging or doing Facebook Live videos
  • Battery life is decent and the phone will deliver one day of light to medium use
  • Well built
  • Ergonomically sized, comfortable for one-handed use
  • Useful physical button that can be setup to to play/ pause music, switch tracks, or launch a custom app
  • Dedicated slots for dual SIM cards and memory card (which is a always a good thing when many other phones are choosing to come out with a hybrid SIM/memory slot)
  • Fingerprint scanner at the back is easy to reach, and quite responsive
  • Decent Full HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection - viewing angles are good and colour reproduction is decent
  • Stock Android UI keeps thing nice and simple, and will be much appreciated by Android enthusiasts
  • Good all-round performance backed by solid hardware - multitasking is easy with several apps running in the background, and games run well too
  • Decent dual-camera setup on the rear - decent bokeh shots (as long as you set it up right), good macros, and indoor shots are also pretty good
  • Decent front camera too - photos taken with the the front camera are good and can be used on messengers and social networking apps - also, the front flash is handy in dark areas
  • Very good battery life - the phone can run for a day and a half with regular use
  • Pretty decent charging speed - takes about 2 hours to charge fully
  • On the whole, if stock Android and good battery life appeal to you, then the Lenovo K8 Plus is a good choice
2-minute Review [Negatives]
  • The volume buttons are placed a little high, and you will tend to shuffle the phone in your hand to reach them
  • Average rear camera - there is shutter lag, and overall quality is ordinary - night shots are very ordinary too
  • No fast charging support - the phone takes two and a half hours to charge the battery fully
  • If you are a lot into selfies, then the Zenfone 4 Selfie might be a decent pick, but if you want a good all-round device, then the likes of Redmi Note 4 are much better options in this price bracket
  • A bit on the thick and bulky side, measuring 8.99mm and weighing 165g
  • Sunlight legibility of the display could have been better
  • Rear camera is pretty good but could have been a bit better in landscape mode, and with HDR
  • Also the camera tends to sometimes lag a bit in depth (bokeh) mode
