2-minute Review [Positives]
  • Simple, no-frill design
  • Easy to hold and operate with one hand - and has a good grip
  • Overall, the Infinix Smart 2 is a feature-rich entry-level smartphone worthy of its price - it can compete well with the top phone in this segment, the Xiaomi Redmi 5A, and even holds an edge on it in terms of a modern 18:9 aspect ratio screen (although it falls behind it in terms of performance)
  • Modern tall 5.45-inch HD+ screen, with a 18:9 aspect ratio - the glass on top of the display is curved from edges, which makes it easy to use and operate
  • Infinix’s proprietary XOS UI over Android is decent as far as Android UIs go - it looks neat, and carries some intuitive features - it’s customizable to quite an extent, including the app drawer layout, grid size, app icon theme, and also the text color - there’s also a good number of customizable gestures included (there is also some bloatware, but that can thankfully be uninstalled)
  • Acceptable rear and front cameras given the price point - take decent portrait shots in good light - but you shouldn't expect much more than that
  • Good battery life - powered by a 3050 mAh battery, the phone keeps going for more than a day
  • Has 'Face Unlock' that works quite well
  • Good looks with a solid build, plastic unibody design, and a compact feel
  • The gentle curves at the edges are a nice upgrade over the Redmi 4A which was more square-ish
  • Good display for the price
  • MIUI continues to be one of the more well designed Android UIs - it's clean, efficient and has a number of useful add-on apps like Mi Drop, Mi Security (lets you set passcodes on individual apps, set up dual apps or a second space on the device, block SMS senders and more), and Mi Remote
  • Decent performance in daily use
  • Acceptable cameras given the price point - take good shots in good light, and single-tone LED flash at the back will help you get a little more visibility in low light conditions
  • Decent battery life - with the low power usage of the Snapdragon 425 and the frugal HD screen, you can easily get a full day’s use out of the smartphone before needing to charge
  • Additionally, the company has taken user feedback and gone with a non-hybrid SIM tray design - there are separate slots for a microSD card and both SIMs, therefore not forcing users to have to forego one or the other
  • Overall it's a decent upgrade over the Redmi 4A, and the small changes will help in keeping the phone current - and offer very good value to users looking for a nice entry-level smartphone
2-minute Review [Negatives]
  • The plastic back and glass front are prone to smudges and scratches (you should use a case and/or screen protector)
  • Performance, especially in multi-tasking, is average, and there are lags here and there - even though on paper the performance should be similar to its main competitor, the Redmi 5A, but in real life, the Redmi 5A comes out definitely ahead
  • No fast charging support - will take more than 3 hours to charge the battery from zero to 100 per cent
  • Performance is only good for basic use - you will of course need better specs (and a more expensive phone) if you intend to use heavy apps, or play a lot of games
  • Camera quality is basic too - again as would be expected at this price point
  • No fast charging support
