2-minute Review [Positives]
  • Sports a nice metal unibody design that feels smooth at the touch, and a good build quality
  • Beautiful, large 5.98-inch Full HD (1080x1920) display on top - the screen pops with vivid and bright colours and you will best enjoy it when watching 1080p videos on YouTube or streaming platforms like Netflix (or while playing games) - the screen is also pretty visible under bright sunlight, and viewing angles are good too
  • Good performance - even under intensive use - playing graphic-intensive games and browsing heavy websites is pretty smooth
  • Impressive battery life - will comfortably last over a day even with heavy use
  • Supports fast charging via XCharge, which is decent (takes about 2 hours to full charge) though not the fastest
  • Dedicated dual sim slots and microSD slot
  • Top-notch build quality, with the ergonomics, handling, and aesthetics of a true high-end premium device
  • Continues to have the very handy mute switch, in the tradition of earlier OnePlus phones
  • Good AMOLED display with great color rendition, and an excellent in-built Kindle-like "reading mode"
  • OxygenOS continues to be an excellent blend of stock Android and light but useful touches in all the right places - it is, without doubt, one of the best Android UIs around
  • Performance is blazing fast all round - matching and sometimes even beating other Snapdragon 835 powerhouses like the Galaxy S8 and Sony Xperia XZ Premium - and not just in benchmarks, but in real-life use
  • Very good dual camera setup - giving arguably the best camera phone in this price bracket - overall it's pleasing color rendering and good dynamic range - the portrait mode is pretty nice too - overall the camera is fast and reliable - and a small improvement over the OnePlus 3/3T in terms of quality
  • Videos shot are also pretty decent (although it misses out on video stabilisation, which was present in the OnePlus 3/3T)
  • Good loudspeaker - improving significantly over the OnePlus 3/3T
  • Very solid battery life - offering a significant improvement over the already very good OnePlus 3T in real life use
  • OnePlus's proprietary dash charging technology continues to provide industry leading fast charging speeds, and continues to work even when you are using your phone
  • On the whole, leaving aside the camera, which is good but not comparable to the best in business, the OP5 matches other premium flagships in all other areas - and delivers this at a fraction of the price - continuing OnePlus's tradition of offering great performance at excellent value for money
2-minute Review [Negatives]
  • In the age of bezel-less display, the design is also a little old-school
  • The fingerprint sensor, though accurate, is not the fastest
  • Infinix's custom UI over Android is not the most fluid (you'll notice some stuttering when scrolling within apps and websites and touch responsiveness is not all that snappy), and also has a bunch of bloatware, which can't be uninstalled
  • Average rear camera - the photos aren't too detailed, and indoor shots are noisy - portrait mode is average too
  • Average front camera - tends to let in a little too much light, portrait mode is again average
  • The single speaker on the bottom can get loud at maximum volume, but it doesn't produce the clearest sound - the placement is also not ideal since your palm would often block the speaker when watching videos or playing games in landscape mode
  • The Infinix Zero 5 is a massive phone both inside and out - it is quite large and will be unwieldy for most
  • The design is aesthetic but nothing original, or distinctive
  • The phone's display is pretty good but doesn't pack the same punch as the (admittedly higher priced) premium Android flagships
  • The camera is again excellent for the price, and an improvement over the OnePlus 3/3T, but doesn't match up to the level of the premium flagships like the Galaxy S8, the Google Pixel, the HTC U11, and iPhone 7 & 7 Plus
