2-minute Review [Positives]
  • Good build quality, premium looks with a glass back
  • Water-repellence – a feature that can help at least some with minor splashes (but does not make the phones submersible in water)
  • Decent fingerprint scanners in the rear
  • Modern, tall, 18:9 display with slimmed-down bezels - it's fairly bright and vivid
  • In typical Moto fashion, the Moto E5 Plus run a clean, bloat-free version of Android, with minimal useful add-ons like Moto Display, Moto Actions, and Night Mode
  • Decent day-to-day performance - for light workloads, the phone will sail through just fine - multitasking switches quickly, and apps launch in a timely manner
  • Decent rear camera in favorable lighting conditions
  • Video recording is decent too with reasonably good stabilisation
  • Call quality is pretty good too
  • Excellent battery life - with a 5000mAh battery, the E5 Plus is a road warrior, and can last you up to 2 days with moderate use, before you need to charge it again
  • Fast charging support (TurboCharge) - the phone gets from 0 to 50% in about an hour
  • Modern, fresh design with an almost bezel-less ‘Infinity Display’
  • Good build quality
  • The rear is made of polycarbonate and feels nice
  • Despite housing a 5.6-inch screen, the device is compact and lightweight - you can easily use it with one hand
  • The 5.6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED ‘Infinity Display’ is one of the best in this price range - makes for a good video watching experience - the AMOLED panel makes every thing look vivid and the viewing angles are decent too
  • Samsung's Touchwiz on top of Android is one of the more refined and neat Android skins, and has some useful add-ons like Samsung Pay Mini which makes digital payments easy and a Knox-powered ‘Secure Folder’ for you store to sensitive files
  • Decent day-to-day performance, backed by a Exynos 7870 - should work fine for basic users
  • Good battery life - the 3000mAh battery which will easily last a day for heavy users while average users can squeeze around 36 hours of battery life
2-minute Review [Negatives]
  • A bit on the heavy side
  • The glass back is prone to scratching (as all glass backs are)
  • The display could have had better resolution
  • Average front camera
  • Average loudspeaker - both loudness and audio quality could have been a bit better
  • The Moto E5 Plus is a decent phone by itself, and is a especially good choice if you value battery life above all else, but other devices from Xiaomi, Asus, Realme in this price bracket will likely be better overall deals
  • The display resolution could have been better
  • Misses out on basic sensors like an ambient light sensor, and a digital compass
  • The performance is alright, but is far from the best in this price bracket (that prize would go to the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro)
  • Average rear and front cameras - colours in daylight photos are washed out, and dynamic range is below average - even close-up shots are ordinary, with bland colour reproduction
  • No fast charging support
  • On the whole, the On6 is a fairly underwhelming device, and you will find plenty of better alternatives available at the same price point
