2-minute Review [Positives]
  • Premium, sleek, glass-based design - this is easily the best looking Moto G to date
  • The rear edges of the G6 Plus are curved, and that allows it to sit much more comfortably in the palm of your hand than previous models – if you've seen the Samsung Galaxy S7, it’s a similar curvature on the back
  • Motorola has also kept the fingerprint sensor on the front of the phone, just below the display, but it doesn’t take up much space, so the bottom bezel is quite thin and looks good. The sensor is easy to hit, and works efficiently
  • Top-quality, modern, bright, Full HD+ IPS LCD display with then new 18:9 display ratio - it has good colors, and viewing angles too
  • Moto continues to excel in the software part, keeping the UI close to stock Android while adding just the right set of add-ons like Moto Actions (gesture control), night display, and fingerprint sensor based navigation
  • Good, solid performance, backed by the Snapdragon 630 - does well under all use cases, including games
  • Good set of dual rear cameras - pretty good for this price bracket - the focus is really quick, and pictures come out crisp and natural, and the portrait mode is decently implemented too
  • The phone also comes with image recognition software that enables you to take photos of objects you come across, or landmarks in a city you’re visiting, and get information about them, for example a Wikipedia page, or details of where you can buy an item
  • On the front of the Moto G6 Plus is a 8MP selfie camera, which is pretty decent too - it also has a filters mode, which overlays Snapchat-like frippery such as cat features or bunny ears (though it takes a long time to process images)
  • The front camera also has an effective group selfie mode that works similar to a panoramic images mode
  • Video recording is decent too, and there is a pretty decent slow-mo mode too
  • Good, powerful loudspeaker
  • Good battery life - will comfortably last the day with moderate to heavy use
  • Fast charging support
  • On the whole, the Moto G6 Plus looks great, has good software, performs good, and has a good set of cameras - all in all its a strong choice in this price bracket - it's a solid step up from it's younger cousin, the Moto G6, with better performance, camera and battery life - and could compete well with the likes of Nokia 6.1 (which has a more premium build, but lacks dual rear cameras) and the Redmi Note 5 Pro (which has better performance and battery, but lacks stock Android)
  • Nice looking, notch-based full screen design, that is in trend these days following the launch of the iPhone X
  • Very light
  • The fingerprint sensor at the back is quick and accurate, and face unlock also works quickly
  • The phone’s tall 6.23-inch LCD IPS display with full HD+ resolution is sharp and impressive
  • The Oppo F7 uses the company’s Color OS user interface, on top of Android - it’s a reasonably good single-layered UI with a heavy focus on visuals and apps built by Oppo
  • Good speed/performance - the phone handles both basic use, and graphic-intensive games fairly well, and you will get a clean, lag-free experience
  • Good rear and front cameras - pictures taken with the Oppo F7 are surprisingly good for the price of the phone, despite not having as many sensors as you’d expect from smartphones these days - the single-camera setup on either side might come across as inadequate, but the camera makes up for this with its AI chops - pictures are generally well composed and look good, with accurate colors and sharp contrast where needed
  • The AI abilities are really put to work in getting the depth-effect and vivid-mode shots - despite the single-camera setup, portrait shots with the front camera are excellent, getting colors, depth-effect and boundaries fairly accurately - the rear-camera’s portrait mode is decent too
  • Overall, the camera capabilities are on par with the very good cameras on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, and the Vivo V9 - which are also likely to be the Oppo F7's main competitors
  • Battery life is good as well, with the phone comfortably running for a full day on a single charge with moderate use
  • On the whole, the Oppo F7 is a good choice for a stylish looking device that takes especially good selfies - it also has a slight edge over its main competitor, the Vivo V9 in terms of performance, overall camera quality, and battery life (though in terms of design and build quality, the Vivo V9 is ahead)
2-minute Review [Negatives]
  • A bit on the tall side - not as easy to grip as the smaller Moto G6
  • The phone is primarily built of plastic, and the build quality could have been better at this price point
  • Charging and data transfers use a micro-USB port, which is a little old school in this age where even budget devices are going to USB Type-C way
  • There is no fast charging tech, so charging the Oppo F7 will take a while – about two hours (or a little more) to fully top up the battery with a regular charger
