Our Opinion

The Infinix Hot 6 Pro is a slightly better phone, but the 10.or D2 (3GB RAM, 32GB) is significantly better value for money. Which phone should you buy? Depends on how much your want to spend!

2-minute Review [Positives]
  • Good (plastic) build
  • The size and shape make the phone comfortable to use, and one-handed usage is very manageable
  • The 10.or D2 also has an IPX2 making it resilient to dripping water, which is far from water resistant but better than nothing
  • 10.or D2 also now boasts of a trendy 18:9 display - it offers good touch response and is easily legible outdoors under sunlight
  • There’s stock Android UI, which is always nice to see, and keeps the phone simple enough to use for anyone
  • Good battery life with a 3200maH battery - will comfortably last the full day
  • Slick, premium design - the matte finish of the back offers a good grip, and doesn’t attract fingerprints too much - it also contrasts well with the 2.5D curved-edge display
  • The Infinix Hot 6 Pro also feels fairly light at 158g, with good weight distribution across the entire body
  • The highlight of the phone is tall 18:9, 5.99 inch display and has an HD+ resolution (720x1440) - the screen is bright, and colours are vivid and punchy - watching videos is a generally pleasant experience
  • Infinix's own skin Hummingbird XOS works pretty well, isn't too complicated, and includes some convenience features including a one-handed mode, screen recording, scrolling screenshots, gestures, eye-care mode, and a Game DnD mode
  • Decent loudspeaker - it gets quite loud (although bass is lacking)
  • Very good battery life - will give you a day and a half's worth of usage on one charge
2-minute Review [Negatives]
  • Very plain, bland, plastic design - so if you are looking to buy a phone that's more of a looker, then look elsewhere
  • No fingerprint sensor unlike the previous 10.or D (though it does have face unlock which works reasonably well)
  • Average performance, due to a low-end Snapdragon 425 processor - the interface doesn't feel very fluid, and you will see lags here and there - there are certainly better performing phones around this price bracket
  • The rear and front cameras are average - they do decent in good lighting conditions but not otherwise - they also suffer from significant shutter lag
  • Video recording is average too - with no continuous autofocus and no tap-to-focus either
  • The speaker isn't the best for music and the audio is tinny (though notifications are loud) - the sound is also muffled when the phone is placed on a flat surface
  • No fast charging support - charging the battery to 100 percent takes around four hours
  • On the whole, the 10.or D2 doesn't look like a clear winner in the ultra-budget segment, like its predecessor was - it will likely find it difficult to compete against the likes of Redmi 5A (better value for money), the Infinix Smart 2 (better value for money), and the Redmi 5 (better looks, performance, camera)
  • Both fingerprint and face unlock are a little on the slow side
  • Just about ok overall performance - while the phone runs ok in day-to-day use, the Snapdragon 425 at the core means that anything more than basic use makes the phone stutter - there’s some lag when you’re switching between apps, and scrolling through heavy webpages in Chrome can get jerky
  • Average dual rear camera setup - when the lighting condition is ideal, it can take decent shots but detailing is not too great - and the portrait mode often misses the mark on edge detection
  • Average selfie camera too
  • No fast charging support - it takes nearly three and half hours to fully charge this phone
  • On the whole, the Hot 6 Pro is a decent phone, but it's in a very competitive price bracket, and will likely find it tough to compete against the likes of the Xiaomi Redmi 5 which offers significantly better all-round performance

  1. The D2 does offer a taller, 18:9 aspect display, which many buyers look for these days, but sadly, there's little else to get excited about
