2-minute Review [Positives] |
- Decent looking design, and good build quality, with a milled aluminium back
- The edges of the device are curved, and accompanied by the aluminum borders provide a nice grip
- The fingerprint sensor on the device works well and is pretty snappy
- Very good, bright 5.5inch Full HD display
- Also comes with the Ambient display feature, that allows the device to wake up whenever a new notification comes - its pretty handy
- Comes with stock Android experience, keeping things nice and simple
- Strong, reliable performance based on the Snapdragon 625 - things are snappy all over - benchmark scores are good too, and if fact slightly above the Redmi Note 4 & Lenovo K8 Plus, and comparable to the higher priced Mi A1
- Decent set of rear dual cameras - both normal shots and bokeh shots comes out reasonably well
- Front camera is decent too - the images are generally quite clear and bright
- Very good battery life too - easily lasts over a day and a half on medium usage
- Supports fast charging - goes from 0 to 100% in about 100 minutes
- Supports tronX IoT platform, which allows you to easily manage and control all the smart devices around you
- Uses the modern USB Type-C port, which is not very common in the mid-range
- On the whole, the phone proves to be a very good all-rounder - it doesn’t really bring anything new to the table of the current crop of mid-ranger - but it implements everything well, and coupled with the stock Android UI, makes for a good all-round device, that will give tough competition in this price segment
|
- Stunning, unique design, carrying on the design language of the Realme 1 - the first thing you notice about this device is the back panel - it is made of fibreglass body with a Diamond-like finish at the back, which reflects light in attractive ways - continues to be one of the best-looking devices you will find in the budget segment
- The rounded edges provide good grip
- Now includes a fingerprint sensor, which was missing in the Realme 1
- The display is now a slightly larger 'notch' panel - it provides an immersive experience, decent colours, and wide viewing angles
- ColorOS UI adds some useful features like an AI board (which can be accessed by swiping left on the Home and shows stuff like steps count, photos, favourite contacts, travel tickets), smart driving mode, app cloning, privacy password, and tons of customisation options - though, having said that, it can get somewhat cluttered too in areas such as the Settings panel, and is not quite as simple as stock Android
- Decent dual-camera setup - does reasonably well in good lighting conditions (similar to the Realme 1) and can also additionally give some decent bokeh shots thanks to the secondary camera
- Decent selfie camera too in daylight, again very similar in quality to the Realme 1 selfie camera
- Excellent battery life - the combination of a 4230mAh battery, and AI battery management means that the phone can comfortably last the day even with heavy use - and go up to 2 days with light to moderate use
- On the whole, the Realme 2 is another good phone in the Realme series, with a beautiful design, and is essentially an alternative to the Realme 1 (as opposed to a 'better' successor) - it gains over the Realme 1 in terms of a slightly larger 'notch' display with Gorilla Glass protection, and better battery life - and lags behind it in terms of display resolution, and speed/performance - which one you prefer might be down to what you value more

2-minute Review [Negatives] |
- Somewhat clunky design - not as stylish as it's main competitor, the Xiaomi Mi A1
- The back is a bit of a finger-print magnet
- Rear camera performance in low light could have been better
- On the whole the camera quality is decent but a notch below it's top competitor - the Xiaomi Mi A1
|
- The back panel is prone to scratches and fingerprints (you will probably want to use the included case)
- While the display is slightly larger, the resolution is actually a degrade over the Realme 1
- At the same time, the display is also reflective and not the most bright, which means sunlight legibility is not the best
- While the phone works perfectly fine as a daily driver, it's performance is definitely not the best in class owing to its Snapdragon 450 internals
- No fast charging support
