2-minute Review [Positives]
  • The phone is built impressively well and feels sturdy
  • The quality and placement of the buttons are good too
  • The fingerprint sensor at the back, is quick to authenticate, and ergonomic to use
  • The single speaker at the bottom thankfully doesn’t get blocked when you hold the phone horizontally - and can pump out decent volume for media and alerts
  • Good sharp display - offers good viewing angles, colour reproduction and brightness levels - also has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 to protect it against scratches - overall easily one of the best displays in the budget segment
  • Uses Leeco's EUI (Leeco is now the parent company) just without LeEco’s ‘Supertainment’ streaming services - it is swift, and works well, keeping bloatware to a minimum
  • The phone handles multitasking and general app performance with great ease - the speedy octa-core SoC and ample RAM ensure that there are rarely any slowdowns when launching apps or playing games - even demanding ones run smoothly - this is easily one of the best-performing phones in this price bracket
  • Reasonably good heat management
  • Media playback is also good, as the SoC is capable of handling 4K video, and high-bitrate files are also a non-issue
  • Decent rear camera, especially in daylight conditions - the dual camera setup allows for a nice bokeh effect
  • The front 8-megapixel camera too is decent for selfies in good lighting but not so much under artificial or low-light
  • Good audio quality via headphones
  • Excellent battery life - with normal usage, you can get a little more than a day and a half on a single charge
  • Charges fairly quickly too thanks to the 10W included adapter
  • Support the modern USB standard (USB Type C)
  • Premium looking design - looks similar to the Samsung Galaxy S7 from the back - because of the way the rear panel curves at the edges, the position of the camera and the glossy colour
  • Large, high-quality display - produces crisp colours and has good viewing angles
  • Decent UI layer over Android - with useful apps likes a battery optimiser
  • Very good battery life - lasts a whole day with heavy use, and up to 2 days with light use
  • Dedicate SD card and dual sim slots
2-minute Review [Negatives]
  • A little bit heavy, and on the thicker side, due to its large battery
  • No expandable storage
  • Heavy games like Asphalt 8 cannot run at stable frame-rate
  • Although the UI layer is decent, it could have done with less bloatware
  • Average performance - the smartphone can sometimes show noticeable lag, especially if you have a bunch of apps open
  • Average rear and front cameras - perform ok in daylight conditions, but not in lower light scenarios
  • Audio from built-in speaker crackles at high volumes
  • The rear plastic panel is a fingerprint magnet and is susceptible to scratches too (though there is an included case in the box) - on the whole the build quality is not to the level of top phones in this price bracket like the Xiaomi Redmi 4
