Our Opinion

The Xiaomi Redmi 4 (3GB RAM, 32GB) is a slightly better phone, but the Infocus Turbo 5 Plus is slightly better value for money. Which phone should you buy? It’s a close call, but if your budget allows for it, then Xiaomi Redmi 4 (3GB RAM, 32GB) might be a slightly better choice.

2-minute Review [Positives]
  • Good build quality, and design, with nice curved edges
  • Decent fingerprint sensor (not the fastest, but accurate enough)
  • Decent display - good viewing angles, vibrant color output, and the sunlight visibility is also good
  • Runs almost stock Android UI keeping things nice and simple
  • Decent day-to-day performance
  • Decent call quality
  • Massive 4, 850mAh battery - easily lasts for a day and half even with high usage
  • Top-notch build quality
  • The polished all-metal back of the Redmi 4 makes this phone look more premium than its predecessor (and actually more similar to the more expensive Redmi Note 4)
  • Compact, and quite usable with just one hand - fits well in the hand
  • Fingerprint sensor works well, and is conveniently located
  • Nice 5-inch HD (720x1280) IPS display with 2.5D curved-edge glass - bright, sharp, and with decent viewing angles
  • Xiaomi's MIUI skin is one of the more refined Android UIs - it is clean, polished, and has a bunch of added functionality - Dual Apps, Quick Ball, One-handed mode, Child Mode, Second Space
  • Decent overall performance - on par with those of other phones powered by the Snapdragon 430 series processor
  • Good video playback performance
  • Nice attention to detail overall - such as a protective ring around the camera lens
  • Decent rear camera - a definite improvement over the Redmi 3S - is quick at focusing, and images are fairly detailed and sharp
  • Video recording at 720p and 1080p is decent too
  • Decent front camera - pictures taken in good light have a good amount of detail and decent colour tone
  • Decent call quality
  • Good audio quality
  • Excellent battery life - with moderate use, lasts up to 2 days - there are also power saving modes to help squeeze more life out of each charge
2-minute Review [Negatives]
  • The back of the phone is pretty slippery, so a case is a must to handle the phone daily
  • Display resolution could have been better
  • While performance is decent in daily/basic use, it tends to lag when pushed, and is a step behind the top competitors in this price bracket
  • The processor also tends to heat up quickly when pushed
  • Average rear dual cameras - daylight and macro photos looked a bit washed out and do not bring out enough color - autofocus time is on the slow side too - and the bokeh effect for portraits is very ordinary too
  • Average front camera too
  • No support for fast charging - takes about 3 hours to charge the phone fully
  • Camera performance is improved, but ordinary low-light shots and slow processing in HDR mode still leave something to be desired
