2-minute Review [Positives]
  • Well built
  • Ergonomically sized, comfortable for one-handed use
  • Fingerprint scanner at the back is easy to reach, and quite responsive
  • Useful physical button that can be setup to to play/ pause music, switch tracks, or launch a custom app
  • Decent Full HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection - viewing angles are good and colour reproduction is decent
  • Stock Android UI keeps thing nice and simple, and will be much appreciated by Android enthusiasts
  • Good all-round performance backed by solid hardware - multitasking is easy with several apps running in the background, and games run well too
  • Decent dual-camera setup on the rear - decent bokeh shots (as long as you set it up right), good macros, and indoor shots are also pretty good
  • Decent front camera too - photos taken with the the front camera are good and can be used on messengers and social networking apps - also, the front flash is handy in dark areas
  • Very good battery life - the phone can run for a day and a half with regular use
  • Pretty decent charging speed - takes about 2 hours to charge fully
  • Dedicated slots for dual SIM cards and memory card (which is a always a good thing when many other phones are choosing to come out with a hybrid SIM/memory slot)
  • On the whole, if stock Android and good battery life appeal to you, then the Lenovo K8 Plus is a good choice
  • Stunning, unique design, carrying on the design language of the Realme 1 - the first thing you notice about this device is the back panel - it is made of fibreglass body with a Diamond-like finish at the back, which reflects light in attractive ways - continues to be one of the best-looking devices you will find in the budget segment
  • The rounded edges provide good grip
  • Now includes a fingerprint sensor, which was missing in the Realme 1
  • The display is now a slightly larger 'notch' panel - it provides an immersive experience, decent colours, and wide viewing angles
  • ColorOS UI adds some useful features like an AI board (which can be accessed by swiping left on the Home and shows stuff like steps count, photos, favourite contacts, travel tickets), smart driving mode, app cloning, privacy password, and tons of customisation options - though, having said that, it can get somewhat cluttered too in areas such as the Settings panel, and is not quite as simple as stock Android
  • Decent dual-camera setup - does reasonably well in good lighting conditions (similar to the Realme 1) and can also additionally give some decent bokeh shots thanks to the secondary camera
  • Decent selfie camera too in daylight, again very similar in quality to the Realme 1 selfie camera
  • Excellent battery life - the combination of a 4230mAh battery, and AI battery management means that the phone can comfortably last the day even with heavy use - and go up to 2 days with light to moderate use
  • On the whole, the Realme 2 is another good phone in the Realme series, with a beautiful design, and is essentially an alternative to the Realme 1 (as opposed to a 'better' successor) - it gains over the Realme 1 in terms of a slightly larger 'notch' display with Gorilla Glass protection, and better battery life - and lags behind it in terms of display resolution, and speed/performance - which one you prefer might be down to what you value more
2-minute Review [Negatives]
  • A bit on the thick and bulky side, measuring 8.99mm and weighing 165g
  • Sunlight legibility of the display could have been better
  • Rear camera is pretty good but could have been a bit better in landscape mode, and with HDR
  • Also the camera tends to sometimes lag a bit in depth (bokeh) mode
  • The back panel is prone to scratches and fingerprints (you will probably want to use the included case)
  • While the display is slightly larger, the resolution is actually a degrade over the Realme 1
  • At the same time, the display is also reflective and not the most bright, which means sunlight legibility is not the best
  • While the phone works perfectly fine as a daily driver, it's performance is definitely not the best in class owing to its Snapdragon 450 internals
  • No fast charging support
