2-minute Review [Positives]
  • Good looking design language, excellent build quality
  • Back cover is made of a textured, soft touch plastic that provides a good hand-feel
  • The phone is also very comfortable to hold, thanks to its slight 150 gram weight, and narrow enough to use with one hand
  • The fingerprint sensor on the front works about as well as any from Motorola
  • Motorola's software, continues to be one of the best close-to-stock Android UIs in the business - with excellent add-ons like Moto Display, and Moto Actions
  • Decent speed/performance - handles most daily tasks without breaking a sweat
  • Pretty decent rear and front camera for the price bracket - image quality in good lighting is especially good - and even in poor lighting, the phone manages to eke some decent shots
  • Replaceable battery - something that is not that common in modern day smartphones
  • Splash resistant
  • On the whole, while the E4 is not amazing in any one aspect, it is a pretty solid, dependable budget smartphone
  • Very good build quality, premium design elements
  • Good display - it is bright, contrasty and sharp for the money
  • Vanilla Android UI with Android Go optimizations
  • Outstanding battery life - achieved by a combination of a 4, 100mAh power pack, humble chipset, and comparatively small screen
  • Dedicated microSD slot (instead of hybrid Dual SIM/MicroSD slot) is always a good thing
2-minute Review [Negatives]
  • The display is average, with slightly washed-out colors, and there are better phone displays available in this price bracket
  • The camera is a little slow to process photos
  • Battery life is ok, but could have been better - with moderate to heavy use, you might not find the phone lasting the whole work day
  • Fingerprint prone screen
  • Mediocre, sluggish performance thanks to a humble chipset and low RAM - falls far behind the competition from the likes of Xiaomi (Redmi 4/4A/5)
  • Mediocre cameras - front and back - again falling behind the Redmi series
  • Slow charging - a full charge from flat with the bundled adapter takes a pretty sluggish four and a half hours, while half an hour will only get you from 0 to 10%
  • 8GB of internal storage is extremely limiting too, and will soon start causing issues as you install more apps
  • On the whole, on its own the Nokia may be a decent first smartphone for very basic needs, but falls behind the Redmi series in terms of overall value proposition, so will not quite give you that much bang for the buck
