2-minute Review [Positives]
  • Pleasant design, sturdy build
  • Quick and accurate fingerprint scanner
  • Mostly simple, stock Android experience, and the few software-addons that Motorola does add (Moto Display, Moto Actions) are always useful
  • Decent performance in daily basic use (although anything more than that will make it struggle)
  • Excellent battery life - comfortably lasts 2 days with moderate use - you can leave your charger at home!
  • Splash resistant
  • Sleek, classy design, and good build quality
  • Comfortable to hold in one hand
  • Decent display - plenty bright and with decent sunlight legibility, on par with other budget devices
  • The UI does well on aesthetics, keeping things simple with a near-stock Android experience with a nice "Nokia blue" skin on top
  • The single bottom-firing loudspeaker is pretty loud
  • Audio quality on the whole is decent
2-minute Review [Negatives]
  • Display resolution definitely could have been better
  • Gets slow at times, when pushed with heavy apps - so its basically meant for casual use (think email/WhatsApp/Social Networking)
  • Average camera - pictures are sometimes fuzzy even in well-lit conditions
  • No fingerprint sensor
  • Video recording is only limited to 720p and saves files in the antiquated 3gp format - video frame rates are also inconsistent from time to time
  • Poorly optimised software - the UI often stutters even with casual loads
  • The chipset also tends to struggle with graphic tasks (games etc)
  • Mediocre rear camera - the 8MP main camera has autofocus issues and produces soft photos - HDR seems to help a bit with finer detail, but leads to over sharpening - spot exposure metering is inconsistent and overly sensitive
  • The front camera too tends to be inconsistent
  • Average battery life
