2-minute Review [Positives]
  • Pleasant design, sturdy build
  • Quick and accurate fingerprint scanner
  • Mostly simple, stock Android experience, and the few software-addons that Motorola does add (Moto Display, Moto Actions) are always useful
  • Decent performance in daily basic use (although anything more than that will make it struggle)
  • Excellent battery life - comfortably lasts 2 days with moderate use - you can leave your charger at home!
  • Splash resistant
  • Top-notch build quality
  • Great design for this price bracket
  • Looks smart, and its slim, metal design is very comfortable to hold too
  • The fingerprint scanner below the screen works well and doubles as a home button
  • There's not much of a bezel around the display either, which means the body hasn't had to balloon out too much to accommodate its 5.2-inch display
  • Decent display - bright and bold
  • Runs almost stock Android UI resulting in a clean, fuss-free interface that's easy to use and nippy to navigate thanks to the phone's octa-core processor
  • Performance is good in daily use, and casual games are handled well too
  • Decent rear camera - especially in daylight - detail levels are good, noise is not an issue, colors are pleasing
  • Decent front camera - with an HDR mode that gives sharp, well-balanced selfies
  • Decent loudspeaker
  • Very good battery life - comfortably lasts a whole day of use
2-minute Review [Negatives]
  • Display resolution definitely could have been better
  • Gets slow at times, when pushed with heavy apps - so its basically meant for casual use (think email/WhatsApp/Social Networking)
  • Average camera - pictures are sometimes fuzzy even in well-lit conditions
  • Display resolution could have been better - some competitors provide a 1080p display in this price bracket
  • Internal memory at 16GB might become a limiting factor if you install lots of apps/games
  • The performance is alright, but definitely lags behind competitors like the Moto G5 Plus or the Redmi Note 4, which have more power under the hood
  • The rear camera too is ok, but not as good as the top camera phones in this price bracket, like the Moto G5 Plus
