2-minute Review [Positives]
  • Good build quality, with a metal frame
  • The matte texture offers decent amounts of grip
  • Overall - slim, light, and easy to live with
  • The fingerprint sensor works really well and is very quick in authentication - you can also use it to lock apps and files - overall it's one of the best fingerprint scanners in this price bracket
  • Decent 5.2-inch IPS display, with good brightness levels, color saturation, and viewing angles
  • ColourOS interface on top of Android works very well, and has an iOS influence, along with support for various gestures
  • Pretty good speed/performance - cruises through basic apps, and light games quite well
  • In good lighting conditions the front camera is pretty good (one of the best in this price bracket), and the back camera is decent - though, in poor lighting conditions, both struggle
  • Decent speaker - isn’t the loudest for media when there’s a lot of ambient noise - but suffices for alerts and ring-tones
  • Decent battery life - generally lasts a full day with moderate use
  • Decent looking unibody design with gently rounded corners and minimal physical buttons
  • At 7.6mm, the Vivo Y66 is sleek and given its plastic architecture is also lightweight
  • Nice, vibrant display, with good viewing angles - though display resolution could have been better
  • FunTouch UI is very iOS-like and works well, with pretty intuitive navigation
  • Good front camera - captures natural colours, with good details, and also has a "Moonlight Glow" LED flash, that works decently well
  • Decent battery life - lasts through the average day for a light or moderate user
2-minute Review [Negatives]
  • The processor tends to heat up when taxed - this includes using the front camera for more than 5 minutes at a stretch
  • No fast charging support
  • While the design is decent looking the build is not metal, something that most phones in this price range now provide - so that's a negative in the build quality department
  • No fingerprint sensor
  • While performance is decent if you are a light to an average user, it is certainly not up to the level of competing devices such as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, Lenovo P2, Moto G5 Plus, and Nubia Z11 Mini S
  • Average rear camera, with average level of details, and no image stabilisation
