2-minute Review [Positives]
  • Metallic body, with a 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass covering almost the entire front
  • You can also make use of the screen’s ‘Always-on’ feature to see notifications and alerts without having to unlock the device
  • Very good 5.7-inch full-HD super-AMOLED screen - bright, with punchy colours, and exceptional contrast
  • Fingerprint scanner in the home screen button works smoothly and unlocks the device within a fraction of a second
  • The UI is well optimised with the hardware and day-to-day performance is always smooth
  • The Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 processor powering the phone is a mid-range chipset, that is good for day-to-day tasks, and still holds some power to process a few heavy-duty jobs
  • Also, there is an ultra-battery saver mode for extra work time with limited background applications, processor speed and ram utilisation
  • Pretty decent rear camera, though still behind the OnePlus 3/3T or even Samsung's own Galaxy A5 in this price bracket
  • Good front camera, performing reasonably well even in low-light conditions
  • Good battery life, assisted by a power efficient chipset - comfortably manages to last the day even with heavy use
  • Pretty good charging speed too - 100 per cent battery within 100 minutes
  • Elegant, premium metal design
  • At 6.9 mm, it is really slim - doesn’t feel like a “big phone” when you first hold it - its slim profile and the slight curves near the edges make for a decent and comfortable grip
  • That's not the only ergonomic advantage this phone has - it is also considerably lighter than its peers at 189 grams
  • Very good display with punchy and pleasantly oversaturated colours - viewing angles, and brightness levels are excellent too
  • The huge size of the display makes it especially well suited for media consumption
  • Auto-brightness adjustments are smooth as well
  • Touchwiz UI over Android is light, and adds a nice bunch of features like the "Always On" display
  • Very good performance - has oodles of RAM and the Snapdragon 653 inside is slick and fast - in regular use, the phone is fluid and doesn't skip a beat in any way - things are largely flagship-like, and it's only in the most demanding games that you might notice a performance drop from the Snapdragon 820/821
  • Decent rear camera - daylight shot are good most of the times, macro shots are good, thanks to the f/1.9 aperture, HDR shots are good as well, low-light shots could have been better
  • Decent front camera, with good level of details
  • Decent battery life - for a regular user - there is a full work day’s worth of battery life and then some more
  • Supports fast charging, with 10-100% charge possible in just under an hour
  • Samsung has also made it much narrower than the Mi Max and Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra, making this the most ergonomic of all phablets in the market right now
2-minute Review [Negatives]
  • The top and bottom bezels are on the large side of the spectrum, and to some extent bring down the overall design quotient of the device
  • The chipset while good for a more budget phone, is a little bit of a downer in this price bracket - you can certainly find better performing phones in this segment - the OnePlus 3/3T being prime examples
  • Fingerprint sensor is on the slower side - and it's accuracy also could have been better
  • Has a tendency to heat up, when pushed in terms of performance
  • No support for 4K video capture, or slow motion video recording, that is generally expected at this price point
