2-minute Review [Positives]
  • Good build quality, with a metal frame
  • The matte texture offers decent amounts of grip
  • Overall - slim, light, and easy to live with
  • The fingerprint sensor works really well and is very quick in authentication - you can also use it to lock apps and files - overall it's one of the best fingerprint scanners in this price bracket
  • Decent 5.2-inch IPS display, with good brightness levels, color saturation, and viewing angles
  • ColourOS interface on top of Android works very well, and has an iOS influence, along with support for various gestures
  • Pretty good speed/performance - cruises through basic apps, and light games quite well
  • Decent speaker - isn’t the loudest for media when there’s a lot of ambient noise - but suffices for alerts and ring-tones
  • In good lighting conditions the front camera is pretty good (one of the best in this price bracket), and the back camera is decent - though, in poor lighting conditions, both struggle
  • Decent battery life - generally lasts a full day with moderate use
  • Good build quality
  • Sleek metal unibody design with a premium look and feel
  • The fingerprint scanner integrated in the home button works great
  • The display is bright, and has vivid colours and slim bezels
  • Decent UI overlay over Android - includes features like split screen, one hand mode, long screenshot, app clone - there are a few bloatware apps preloaded but all of them can be uninstalled if required
  • Day to day performance is fairly smooth
  • Very good front camera - comes with a number of features: group selfie mode, face beauty mode, portrait bokeh and live photo (records a few seconds of video along with the photo) - there is also an LED in front that can be used as a flash or fill light for video - overall image quality from the front camera is great — in daylight as well as indoors
  • Good battery life - comfortably lasts the full day
2-minute Review [Negatives]
  • The processor tends to heat up when taxed - this includes using the front camera for more than 5 minutes at a stretch
  • No fast charging support
  • Screen resolution could have been better
  • The performance is decent in regular use and simple games, but there are certainly phones with better chipsets in this price bracket
  • Rear camera performance is decent in daylight with sharp details and rich colours, but indoors the images don’t have much detail and low light images have lots of noise
  • Video recording from the rear camera is limited to 1080p resolution only (some other phones in this price bracket now offer 4K resolution)
  • Overall, the Vivo Y69 is a phone meant only for the selfie loving crowd (otherwise there are many overall better phones), and even within that segment it has tough competition from the likes of Gionee A1
