2-minute Review [Positives]
  • Very good build quality
  • Accurate, quick fingerprint sensor at the back of the phone
  • The Micromax Canvas Infinity is all about the screen - with its wide aspect ratio (18:9) 5.7-inch screen, the Micromax Canvas Infinity boasts striking good looks at the front - arguably the best looking smartphone you can buy in this price bracket - in fact until recently such "infinity" displays were only found on Samsung and LG flagships - so its commendable seeing that replicated in this price bracket
  • As a result of the reduced non-screen space, the Micromax Canvas Infinity manages to squeeze in a 5.7-inch screen while being slightly smaller than a typical 5.5-inch screen phone such as the OnePlus 5 - the phone doesn’t feel too big, and will appeal to buyers on a low budget looking for a phone with a bigger screen that doesn’t feel quite as big
  • Decent (though not great) rear camera
  • Decent battery life - lasts the day with moderate use
  • Good front camera - takes decent pictures, even in lighting conditions that are less than ideal - there are a couple of additional modes as well, including real-time bokeh with the front camera, and super pixel technology - on the whole, pictures are sharp and well composed
  • Other key advantages of the Micromax Canvas Infinity include a removable battery and separate slots for both SIM cards and a microSD card, which means that you can have two SIMs and expandable storage on the phone as well
  • Good build quality
  • The sleek design gives you a 5.7-inch display in the form factor of a 5-inch phone — it’s easy to hold in one hand
  • Big screen, "infinity" display, with minimal bezels
  • Decent UI - offers enhancements like one hand mode, gestures, smart action, customisable notification light and customisable Android buttons
  • Decent (though not great) dual front camera setup - the 8MP wide angle camera is used for depth sensing but you can also switch to it for group selfie mode - there’s also a front LED flash for low light
  • Decent (though not great) rear camera too, with good detail levels
2-minute Review [Negatives]
  • The screen resolution is on the low side, and this lack of sharpness shows - the low detail will be noticeable, particularly when gaming or watching videos, which would ordinarily be the key benefits of the large, wide screen of the Micromax Canvas Infinity
  • The display's viewing angles, and color reproduction are pretty ordinary too
  • Micromax's custom UI is not the most refined Android UI and is buggy/half-baked in many places
  • The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC, a basic chipset that is more meant for basic entry-level smartphones, and the lack of capability in performance does show - you will tend to experience stutter and lag, when you push it with anything other than basic apps
  • On the whole, if looks are a primary concern, then the Canvas Infinity is a good choice, else in terms of performance, there are better choices around from the likes of Xiaomi
  • Fingerprint scanner is a little bit on the slow side
  • Low resolution screen
  • Snapdragon 430 offers only entry level performance - interface is sometimes slow/laggy - you would expect better at this price
  • On the whole, at this price, the phone goes head-to-head with the Honor 7X, and falls behind - the 7X offers better performance, a much better and larger FHD+ screen, better dual rear camera
