2-minute Review [Positives] |
- Stunning, top-notch design, similar to the OnePlus 7 Pro, that continues to impress
- Eye-catching new Haze blue color
- The soft-touch glass at the back feels luxurious
- The frosted rear panel doesn’t attract fingerprints and the subtle gradient makes it look elegant
- The immersive, 'all screen' razor-sharp display on the front (notch-less) makes for an absolutely gorgeous looking phone
- Super fast in-display fingerprint reader (comparable in unlocking speed to standard physical fingerprint readers)
- The selfie camera functions exactly the same as it does on the OnePlus 7 Pro - that is to say, it is mostly silent, and very quick to activate - in fact, it is fast enough to be used for face unlock if you chose
- Incredible, silky smooth, 'all screen' AMOLED display - with a unique 90Hz screen refresh rate that makes games and movie-watching look more fluid - even things like scrolling through webpages and apps feels really fluid (if you place a standard 60Hz phone side-by-side, you will feel the difference)
- In fact the 90Hz display pushes the fluidity and speed of the feel of OxygenOS to a whole new level - in practical terms, seeing animations and scrolling at fluid 90FPS does more to make a phone feel performant than any benchmark score - OnePlus has hit the ball out of the park with this one
- Crisp, high-res screen
- For avid multimedia consumers, HDR10+ support is on board
- Overall, this is arguably the best display on any smartphone, at present
- OxygenOS continues to be one of the most thoughtfully-designed, clean (stock-like) UIs for Android
- OnePlus’ UI gestures are very nicely implemented - they feel natural and fluid
- With the cutting edge flagship Snapdragon 855+, some ultra fast storage speed (UFS3), the well-optimized OxygenOS, and the 90Hz screen, the OnePlus 7T Pro is a speed monster, and easily one of the fastest (and the fastest-feeling) Android phones around
- Good, versatile, triple rear camera setup - there is an ultra wide-angle camera, a standard camera and a telephoto camera - the setup is the same in fact as the OnePlus 7 Pro
- The camera app has gotten a host of new features such as a Super Macro mode and the ability to use Nightscape with the wide-angle camera
- On top of these, OnePlus made some notable changes to how the 7T Pro processes images - the company’s UltraShot technology will analyze what you’re shooting and then apply different presets of color, contrast, exposure compensation, and HDR effect (This is similar to the AI camera features touted by OnePlus’ competitors.)
- Excellent stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos
- Good battery life with a 4085mAH battery - a slight improvement over the OnePlus 7 Pro - you will get a comfortable one day of use
- Super fast charging speeds - Warp Charge 30T brings the latest fast charging tech from OnePlus - it promises up to 23% faster charging speeds, though real-world gains are a bit more conservative - charging times from 0 to 100% clock in at about 71 minutes
- OnePlus builds on its best ever phone, the OnePlus 7 Pro, with faster performance, a bigger battery and new camera modes - the 7T Pro isn't an overhaul of the previous OnePlus 7 Pro, but it doesn't need to be - it's simply a thoughtful selection of upgrades, all combining into a phone that once again undercuts other premium flagships by almost 50% in terms of price, and yet delivers (almost) the same flagship experience
- The OnePlus 7T Pro is for those seeking the absolute best without spending top dollar - it nails almost everything you’d want from a 2019 flagship, and the few misses are easy to overlook for the money you save - for everyone else, there’s the cheaper OnePlus 7T, or the even cheaper Redmi K20 Pro

- The Vivo X50 Pro is a breath of fresh air, bringing a sexy, luxurious design - the soft satin finish of the glass back with a classy matte metallic hue gives it a unique and amiable look
- It is one of the only Android flagships that is somewhat compact and relatively light-weight
- The under-display fingerprint scanner is fast and accurate for the most part and there's also Face Unlock that works well
- Very good 6.5-inch AMOLED FHD+ screen, which looks pretty good - the colours are punchy, saturated and viewing content on it is a delight
- The display have all the bells and whistles here including a 90Hz refresh rate, 180Hz response rate, HDR10+ support and up to 1300 nits peak brightness
- Very good performance with the new Snapdragon 765G - the Vivo X50 Pro dashes through everything you throw at it, for day to day use, you should have no issues whatsoever and Heavy 3D games like PUBG Mobile runs smoothly
- Very good quad camera setup - a primary gimbal 48MP sensor, a 13MP portrait zoom lens, an 8MP ultra-wide and an 8MP periscope lens
- In daylight everything looks generally pleasing including sharp, detailed shots with good colours - the gimbal system is as if the sensor is 'floating', so it can compensate in three dimensions to help keep everything extra stable and smooth
- The ultra-wide camera gets you that extra-wide perspective on the world - it adds a little extra fun to the functionality with the macro mode and can take sharp and detailed close-ups
- The 5X periscope can help bring farther away subjects to appear closer in the frame, it is really useful at times - it can crop up to 60X digitally
- The front-facing 32MP camera does a good job - the portrait mode works well, filters, Beauty and other usual features are also present
- Video recording on the X50 Pro is excellent with the gimble coming into play, it captures amazingly smooth video, just like a camera on gimble would
- Overall, this is one of the more exciting camera setups at this price and Vivo isn't playing a numbers game, each camera has different functionality that adds to the overall versatility of the cameras
- Good loudspeaker performance - the output is loud and clear with very little distortion in the bass at full volume (though, most competitors offer stereo speakers at this price)
- Good battery life with the 4315 mAh cell - it will easily last a full day on a single charge with 90 Hz display on moderate use
- Very good fast charging with the 33W Flash Charger - it can fill up the battery in about 80 minutes
- The Vivo X50 Pro is the most polished smartphone from the Chinese manufacturer, some of its hardware is second to none, the cameras are extremely enjoyable, the battery backup is reliable, all of which comes in a powerful petite package (though, the software might be an eyesore to a lot of user)

2-minute Review [Negatives] |
- On the heavy and large side - and a bit too big to use comfortably with one hand
- No IP-certified water resistance, that's available on some of it's competitors like the Galaxy 10e
- Having said that though, the camera setup on the OnePlus 7T Pro, while a slight (software-based) improvement on the OnePlus 7 Pro, is still not quite as good as the best cameras out there - the Huawei P30 Pro, the iPhone 11, the Pixel 3/3a, and the Galaxy S10 series - especially in terms of low light performance
- No standard headphone jack - you will need to use either USB-C or wireless headphones (none of which is included in the retail package)
- While the battery life is decent, the main competition - the Galaxy S10/S10e, and iPhone 11 - is significantly ahead here
- No wireless charging support
|
- As with all previous Vivo phones, the software experience continues to be the pain point, it has barely improved over the last few years - this wouldn’t have been as big a deal if it were another one of Vivo’s budget smartphones, but consumers expect an ad-free, no-frills affair in the premium segment, that the X50 Pro is lacking
- There’s no headphone jack and you will have to invest in some good Bluetooth headsets if you want to charge your phone and listen to music simultaneously
- If great software is high on your priorities, the OnePlus 8 is a serious contender with equally excellent hardware and a software skin that is easy to be smitten with, but its cameras aren't as great as the X50 Pro - there’s also the Xiaomi Mi 10 which offers a complete hardware and camera package
