Our Opinion

The Samsung Galaxy M30 (3GB RAM, 32GB) is a slightly better phone, but the Samsung Galaxy M10s is slightly better value for money. Which phone should you buy? It’s a close call, but if your budget allows for it, then Samsung Galaxy M30 (3GB RAM, 32GB) might be a slightly better choice.

2-minute Review [Positives]
  • Simple, basic polycarbonate design (it's not as premium though as some of its competitors)
  • Compact and sleek (especially for a device that packs a 4000 mAh battery) - good for one-handed use
  • Relatively light while still delivering good battery life
  • Decent fingerprint scanner on the rear
  • One of the cheapest phones to come with a Super AMOLED display - the screen is vibrant and effective even in bright daylight - and this is a good phone to enjoy video content on
  • Samsung's OneUI is one of the cleaner, more refined Android UIs at present
  • Decent all-round performance with the Exynos 7884 octa-core chipset (similar to Snapdragon 450) - day-to-day performance is reasonably smooth
  • Decent rear dual-camera setup: 13-megapixel primary sensor + 5-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens
  • The primary camera captures good images in daylight
  • Both the rear and front cameras come with Live Focus mode so you can adjust the blur in the background even while clicking pictures
  • Uses the modern Type-C USB charging port
  • Good battery life with a large 4000mAh battery - you will get about 1.5 days of moderate use
  • 15W fast charging support
  • Overall, the Galaxy M10s is a good option for this price bracket if display quality is your primary criteria (you won't get an AMOLED display at this price elsewhere) - on the other hand, if you want to look at better all-round phones, with somewhat better cameras and performance, you can consider alternatives from Xiaomi and Realme
  • Very good looks and build quality - with a a unibody design, and glossy finish on the back panel - quite similar to its cousins - the M10 and M20
  • The Galaxy M30’s back panel doesn’t attract fingerprint smudges as much as M20 - it’s also better to grip and use for longer period of time
  • Very good, class-leading 6.4-inch full HD+ Super AMOLED display with a tiny waterdrop notch - the screen is vibrant and offers pretty satisfactory legibility indoors and outdoors - one of the very few phones in this price bracket to have an AMOLED panel
  • Now packs the new Samsung One UI which is one of the most streamlined, clean, and refined Android skins around at present - and is especially well suited ergonomically for one handed use
  • It also has a very intuitive gesture navigation system
  • Decent, solid, mid-range performance with a Exynos 7904 octa-core processor (similar to Snapdragon 626) - it can easily handle your day-to-day tasks such as browsing, social networking and streaming multimedia on-the-go - graphic-intensive games like PUBG Mobile also run reasonably well on the phone (it is not however the best performance to be had in this price bracket - there are many better performing competitors)
  • Decent triple-rear camera setup - includes a 13-megapixel camera with f/1.9 sensor, 5-megapixel depth sensor, and 5-megapixel ultra-wide sensor with 123-degree viewing angle - the results are reasonably good for the given price point
  • You get some pretty good portraits
  • Decent selfie camera too
  • Overall, it's a decent camera setup - but it's not the best to be had in this price range
  • Excellent battery life with a massive 5000 mAh battery - you will get up to 2 days with moderate use
  • Samsung Galaxy M30 is a pretty capable mid-range smartphone, and if you’re looking for a phone with big battery and good camera, Galaxy M30 is worth considering - that said, it will face some stiff competition from the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro which offers Snapdragon 675 processor and 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor
2-minute Review [Negatives]
  • The back panel is prone to fingerprint smudges and you should ideally apply a cover
  • Having said that, the competition in this segment is pretty tough, and you will get better performing phones from the Xiaomi and Realme competition
  • Focus speed is on the slow side
  • In lowlight conditions, the quality definitely goes down
  • While decent for the price, it's not quite the best camera phone for this price bracket - that award would go to the Xiaomis and Realmes of this range
  • The lowlight performance of the rear and front cameras, is pretty average
  • No 4k video recording, and no stabilisation at 1080p
