2-minute Review [Positives] |
- Beautiful, premium, slick colorway back panel - one of the best looking phones in this price bracket
- Modern, sharp design up-front too, with a large screen and water-drop notch
- Fast fingerprint reader
- Good, 6.26-inch IPS LCD HD+ display - easily among the best in this price bracket - it has good sunlight legibility, great viewing angles, and good color tuning - watching movies and images on the screen is a pretty good experience
- MIUI is one of the more refined Android UIs, and has plenty of customization features - you can easily do things like switch between buttons and gestures for navigation and turn off the notch depending on your preference
- Very good performance, with a Snapdragon 632 chipset at the core - daily use is smooth and pleasant, simple games are a breeze, and even complex games like PUBG do fine on low graphics settings
- Good dual-rear camera setup - a combination of a 12MP primary camera paired with a 2MP depth sensor - the end results are fairly impressive
- Images shot outdoors in good light come out very well with retained details even in shadow regions
- Portrait mode is good too - edge detection is rather good and the bokeh fall-off is fairly natural
- Good selfie camera too, with a decent software-based portrait mode, and a decent beauty mode
- Overall, Xiaomi has scored here again, with probably the best overall camera package at this price point
- The phone has a single speaker but it manages to be pretty loud - there is little to no bottom end, but on the flip side, music doesn’t crackle even with the volume cranked up to the maximum
- Excellent battery life - with a 4000mAh battery, the phone comfortably lasts a day and a half on a single charge - and with lighter usage, you can easily manage two days
- Overall, the Redmi 7 is a very good deal for anyone looking for an entry-level smartphone that can handle all the basics and more - it delivers good performance and a well-optimized usage experience, and it looks smashing while at it
|
- Pleasant, refreshing design - back is textured similar to other budget realme phones, there is also a strip coming down the square-shape camera module, which adds a bit of charm to overall look
- Front has a similar affair with a dew-drop notch and thin bezels
- The patterned back almost completely eliminates the chances of getting fingerprints or smudges - it also adds a lot of grip and gives the phone a very solid, sturdy feel
- Face recognition is quick to unlock the smartphone in different lighting conditions
- Large, 6.5 inch IPS display with HD+ resolution - the colors are vibrant with a decent amount of sharpness
- Sunlight legibility is also good - the display gets bright enough for comfortable outdoor use
- The Realme C11 comes with Realme UI based on Android 10 which is much more streamlined and clean compared to previous realme phones - it still packs a lot of useful features like Dark mode, Focus mode, Game Space and Personal Information Protection
- Decent dual camera setup for the price - a 13MP primary shooter + a 2MP depth sensor
- The main camera can click photos with good details in bright light - photos have a lot of details, colours have a punch, come out well even when shot against a direct light source, thanks to the HDR and chroma boost
- The portrait shots look good, and the edge detection is decent as well
- The 5MP front camera can shoot decent selfies - the portrait mode works for the front camera as well, bringing out a more aggressive bokeh effect than the one produced by the dedicated sensor at the back
- Decent video recording quality, with a option to shoot slow motion videos
- Uses the old MicroUSB plug, while the competition has started offering USB Type-C in the budget segment
- Impressive battery life with a big 5000 mAh battery - it lasts for two full days on a single charge with moderate usage
- Realme C11 is worth buying as long as your usage is basic - it has a good display that produces bright colours, cameras manage to deliver beautiful shots and the battery the can last days

2-minute Review [Negatives] |
- It's an all plastic affair though, so the build quality is definitely not as premium as the Redmi Note series (which have glass backs)
- The glossy back, like all glossy backs, attracts a lot of fingerprints, and will scratch relatively easily too (so using a case is a good idea)
- It continues to be ad-strewn though - and by default you will get ads on the lock screen, ads whenever you install an app on your phone, and ads in the notification shade - all of this can be turned off, but that requires a few steps and know-how - something a lot of people using the phone won't have
- Low light shots are more of a mixed bag (the phone tends to reduce the shutter speed, which makes it harder to get a sharp image), and video recording lacks stabilisation - but that's to be expected in this price bracket
- That said, if you can raise your budget by about a 1000 bucks, the Redmi Note 7 with an all-glass design, a Snapdragon 660 processor, and a Full HD display is an even better value proposition
|
- A bit heavy, at 196g
- There is no Widevine L1 certification which means that you cannot enjoy HD content on Netflix and Amazon Prime
- There's still some bloatware that comes pre-installed
- Performance of the realme C11 is strictly average - the apps begin to lag when you try browsing the internet and running apps in the background simultaneously - as far as gaming is concerned, it is capable of handling light games only such as Temple Run, Candy Crush etc
- Low light photos are average, as expected, they lack detail and aren't very sharp
- Charging is on the slower side with the 10W charger - it takes over 3 hours to charge the smartphone completely
- If you're looking for a good performing phone with all other bells and whistles, there's the realme C3 as alternative
