2-minute Review [Positives] |
- Pristine design - the Realme 6i has a gradient finish with multiple streaks running down the back, converging at the bottom centre - it shines when light hits it, giving the phone a premium look
- Trendy, modern hole-punch design at the front, which isn't very common at this price point
- The Realme 6i has a rounded, curvy back that makes it ergonomic to hold
- The side-mounted fingerprint scanner is quick and accurate
- Face unlock is super quick and combined with raise-to-wake feature, makes for a seamless unlocking experience
- Good, large 6.5 inches full-HD+ IPS display with thin bezels and new punch-hole camera - the colours and peak brightness of the screen are good
- The display has a 90Hz refresh rate which helps the smartphone deliver a smooth experience - games that support 90Hz displays, like Alto's Odyssey, are particularly enjoyable to play
- Software is one area where Realme has taken a big leap, the Realme UI is easy to use - it is also packed with features such as Digital Wellbeing, Focus Mode, Dark Mode, and Riding Mode among others - there are some exciting and useful features like Realme Dual-Mode Audio, which allows you to connect a Bluetooth and a wired headset at the same time to listen to music on the smartphone
- Super snappy performance with the powerful MediaTek Helio G90T - the day to day tasks are a breeze on this phone, applications open quickly, RAM management is quite good, and multitasking is also handled well - the phone breezes through medium and high-level graphic-intensive games like PUBG, which runs smoothly
- Good quad-camera setup at the back consisting of a 48MP primary camera, an 8MP Ultra-wide angle camera, a 2MP monochrome camera, and a 2MP macro camera
- The primary camera is the same as on the Narzo 10 and produces identical shots - in daylight it turns out detailed images with good colour reproduction
- The wide-angle camera is decent and offer a wide field of view which comes handy in tight places and capturing more area - warping on the edges is taken care of decently through software (though, the quality isn't as good as the primary sensor)
- In low light, the camera takes good-looking shots - the Night Mode does a much better job in low light by stitching together multiple frames delivering a brighter overall result, shots taken with Night Mode have significantly better details (however, the quality dips slightly in low-light)
- Selfies shot with the Realme 6i have good detail, and beautification is enabled by default, photos are good enough to be shared on social media - you can take portrait shots, panoramas and even time-lapse videos with the front camera
- The new black and white monochrome lens helps take great monochrome portraits - this lens helps the main sensor grab a wider spectrum of greys, hence adding more richness and texture to portrait shots
- Battery life on the Realme 6i is quite good with the 4300 mAh cell, manages to go on for over a day and a half before needing to be plugged in
- The 30W fast charging is unheard of at this price and that too with bundled charger in the box - the phone gets to 65 per cent in 30 minutes and took a little over an hour to charge completely
- The Realme 6i is a power-packed phone that's one of the most exciting offerings in its price segment - with exciting features like a 90Hz display and 30W fast charging, it is one of the best smartphones money can buy in this price segment - the Helio G90T is a great performer, the quad-camera setup offers versatility, and Realme's UI is quite good too
|
- Catchy, elegant 'V-pattern' rear design - the V-design at the back with a smooth texture gives the device a good look
- Trendy, tear-drop notch front design - the bezels on the sides are thin for smartphones at this price
- The 20:9 aspect ratio makes the smartphone tall and slim, so it's relatively comfortable to hold and use
- The fingerprint scanner is located on the rear and works well, so does the Face Unlock
- The weight is evenly distributed, the device doesn't feel too heavy to hold
- Large, 6.5 inch IPS display with HD+ resolution - the colors are vibrant with a decent amount of sharpness
- Sunlight legibility is decent - the display gets bright enough for comfortable outdoor use
- The Narzo 20A comes with Realme UI based on Android 10 which is much more streamlined and clean compared to previous realme phones - it still packs a lot of useful features like Dark Mode, Focus mode, Game Space and Personal Information Protection
- Decent triple camera setup for the price - a 12MP primary shooter + a 2MP depth sensor + a 2MP ‘retro’ unit
- The primary camera can take nice pictures in good lighting conditions, the colour accuracy is good and the dynamic range and sharpness are also decent enough and for a phone at this price
- There's also a decent Macro mode which lets you get very close to the subject (focusing at a close distance could be an issue though)
- The portrait shots also come out good and they are usable for most scenarios
- Decent video recording quality, with a option to shoot slow-motion videos
- Impressive battery life with a big 5000 mAh battery - it lasts for two full days on a single charge with moderate usage
|
2-minute Review [Negatives] |
- A bit thick at 9.6mm
- The rear panel isn't glass, and could pick up minor scuffs and scratches (though, it's more durable and light-weight)
- There are still several pre-loaded apps however - though most of these can thankfully be uninstalled
- The macro lens doesn't excel at what it is supposed to do, the detailing of the images is low because of the meagre 2MP resolution (though, it help take closer shots of smaller subjects)
|
- There is no Widevine L1 certification which means that you cannot enjoy HD content on Netflix and Amazon Prime
- There's still some bloatware that comes pre-installed
- Poor performance from the Snapdragon 665 SOC - opening up apps, scrolling through the interface, heading to settings, or even just going through the list of apps is a painfully slow process - the performance of the phone is pretty disappointing to the extent that this could be one of the worst-performing phones in some years
- Low light photos are average, as expected, they lack detail and aren't very sharp
- Selfies are average too with inaccurate colour tone and low sharpness and details - the portrait selfie is not very consistent either
- Still offers the old MicroUSB, while the competition has started offering USB Type-C in the budget segment
- Charging is on the slower side with the 10W charger - it takes over 3 hours to charge the smartphone completely
- The Realme Narzo 20A offers a good display, new design, and excellent battery life, however, the performance lets you down big time - with Realme Narzo 20A letting you down even with basic apps and day to day usage, it is difficult to recommend this phone to anyone
