2-minute Review [Positives] |
- Trendy rear design - the Realme 7i features a similar design as other Realme 7 series phones, the glossy back creates some interesting patterns when light hits it
- The front too looks similar with a hole-punch and thin bezels all around
- Face unlock and the side-mounted fingerprint sensor are quick
- The Realme 7i gets a vibrant 6.5 inches IPS LCD - the 90 Hz refresh rate is a class leading feature
- The 90Hz refresh rate makes for smoother scrolling and animations
- Software on the Realme phones is much improved since the company switched to Realme UI, it is easy to use - it is also packed with features such as Digital Wellbeing, Focus Mode, Dark Mode, and Riding Mode among others - there are some exciting and useful features like Realme Dual-Mode Audio, which allows you to connect a Bluetooth and a wired headset at the same time to listen to music on the smartphone
- Average, inconsistent performance from the Snapdragon 662 - regular tasks such as scrolling, opening apps, texting is fine for a phone, but it is inconsistent, stuttering animations and delayed app load times bugs the overall performance
- Good quad cameras at the back - the main unit boasts a 64MP sensor, with an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP micro and a 2MP depth sensor - this setup is similar to the one on the Realme 7 and in real-world scenarios, it performs similarly
- The daylight photos from the main sensor preserve the natural colour and have good exposure - it exhibits improved dynamic range, with better details compared to the Realme 6 - the new sensor is slightly better than the old one in the Realme 6
- The ultra-wide camera captures a wider perspective but details and colours are weaker compared to the main sensor as expected
- Portrait shots generally look good, and you get the option to adjust the background blur before shooting
- Low light photos look cleaner too, with less grain - shots captured using Night mode look more pleasing, compared to what the Realme 6 can produce
- The 16MP camera can take decent selfies - the selfie portrait mode is useful as it manages to correctly crop out the background, and there's also Night mode for bright selfies even in the dark
- Overall, the cameras on the Realme 7i are a bit improved than the previous gen, which always a good thing
- Very good battery life from the 5000 mAh battery - even with medium to heavy usage, it will get you a day and half of runtime on one charge
- Decent fast charging - the 18W fast charger fills up the big battery in just over 2 hours
- The Realme 7i is a good smartphone, considering all the features and specifications it offers at its price - the 90Hz display is appealing, on top of that, Realme has thrown in a 64-megapixel camera, which none of its rivals feature
|
- Catchy, elegant 'Sunrise' rear design, similar to the Realme 5i - the back panel produces a sun-ray like pattern when light hits it which looks stunning
- Trendy, tear-drop notch front design - the bezels on the sides are impressively thin for smartphones at this price
- The matte finished back with lines and patterns almost completely eliminates the chances of getting fingerprints or smudges - it also adds a lot of grip and gives the phone a very solid, sturdy feel
- The 20:9 aspect ratio makes the smartphone tall and slim, so it's relatively comfortable to hold and use
- Face recognition is quick to unlock the smartphone in different lighting conditions
- Large, 6.5 inch IPS display with HD+ resolution - the colors are vibrant with a decent amount of sharpness
- Sunlight legibility is also good - the display gets bright enough for comfortable outdoor use
- The Realme C3 comes with Realme UI based on Android 10 which is much more streamlined and clean compared to previous realme phones - it still packs a lot of useful features like Dark mode, Focus mode, Game Space and Personal Information Protection
- Excellent performance for the price - the MediaTek Helio G70 throws the competition out of the park and scores even higher at benchmarks than the much pricier Galaxy A51 and the Oppo F15 - there's no noticeable lag in regular use and PUBG Mobile on the Realme C3 defaulted to High presets and ran fairly smooth
- Decent dual camera setup for the price - a 12MP primary shooter + a 2MP depth sensor
- In daylight, the Realme C3 is quick to lock focus and does a fair job of metering light, photos look good and the quality is better than what some of the other smartphones at this price point can produce
- There's also a decent Macro mode which lets you get very close to the subject (focusing at close distance could be an issue though)
- Decent portrait mode, with good edge detection (though, the quality could have been better)
- Decent video recording quality, with a option to shoot slow motion videos
- Impressive battery life with a big 5000 mAh battery - it lasts for two full days on a single charge with moderate usage
- The Realme C3 is an easy smartphone to recommend and a solid update to the Realme C2 - it packs a powerful SoC, battery life is excellent, offers a large screen for media consumption and camera performance is acceptable for the price

2-minute Review [Negatives] |
- The plastic material doesn’t feel solid, it catch scratches easily - additionally, it loves dust and fingerprint smudges
- The Realme 7i is on the heavier side weighing at 188 gms
- Sunlight legibility is poor
- Resolutions on the lower side at HD+, phones like Redmi Note 9 offer Full HD+ display at similar price
- There are still several pre-loaded apps however (though most of these can thankfully be uninstalled)
- The 2MP macro camera is not great, and even photos taken in broad daylight look quite poor
- However, the Redmi Note 9 is a more well-rounded package at the same price, there's also the Motorola Moto G9 which offers better overall experience (stock Android), superior battery life and decent cameras
|
- A bit heavy, at 195g
- There is no Widevine L1 certification which means that you cannot enjoy HD content on Netflix and Amazon Prime
- There's still some bloatware that comes pre-installed
- Low light photos are average, as expected, they lack detail and aren't very sharp
- Selfies are average too with inaccurate colour tone and low sharpness and details
- Still offers the old MicroUSB, while the competition has started offering USB Type-C in the budget segment
- Charging is on the slower side with the 10W charger - it takes over 3 hours to charge the smartphone completely
