Design
- Looks sleek
- Face unlock, and fingerprint unlock, both work quite well
- Ordinary design materials - the sides of the phone are made from cheap-feeling plastic, while the glassy, slippery rear is overly reflective and extremely scratch-friendly - it also collects finger grease all too readily
- The screen is hemmed in on all sides by thick bezels (a lot of other modern phones with tall screen have much thinner bezels now)
- The display also has a tendency to pick up fingerprints, and is hard to keep clean
- Average set of dual rear cameras on the back - general image quality is poor, noise in low light conditions is severe and wide-angle outdoor shots in standard camera mode are dark around the edges - HDR mode is pretty ordinary too and you have to hold the phone steady for several seconds, which is a pain - if you don’t manage this, the results are bad
Display
- Good, high-quality, tall 6 inch, 18:9 display - with good contrast ratios, good sunlight legibility, and customisable display modes/colors
Software
- Alcatel's skin over Android is fairly light, and doesn't have too much bloatware (although some of the icons are a bit garish)
Performance
- Average performance based on a weak MediaTek MT8735A chipset - the phone is no match for competitors like the Honor 7A or Moto G6 Play
Camera
- Portrait mode is pretty ordinary too
- Video recording too leaves a lot to be desired: The front 5MP camera delivers sub-par selfies too
Audio
- Very average bundled earphones
Battery
- Average battery life, even with a 3000mAH capacity - if you tend to use your phone a lot, you might need to recharge it as soon as early evening
More
- On the whole, the 3V falls quite a bit behind the top competition on value at this price point - you will be better off going for something like the Honor 7A or the Motorola Moto G6 Play
