Design
- Upscale, simple, elegant brushed-metal design (similar to the iPhone) that feels much more premium than its price range would suggest
- The outside edges of the phone are smooth and rounded, giving a nice hand feel
- The fingerprint sensor at the back is intuitive to reach, and it’s really fast at recognising your print
- Excellent AMOLED screen, with slim bezels and Gorilla Glass 5 protection - brings true blacks and more richly saturated colors and contrast to the forefront - viewing angles and view ability outdoors is very good too
Software
- ZenUI has improved from before is now more streamlined, but it is still not the most elegant Android UI
Performance
- Good, reliable performance - smooth in daily use, and can handled everything you throw at it, including graphic-intensive games
Camera
- Pretty good set of rear dual cameras - the Zenfone 3 Zoom lives up to its camera-centric name - puts out quality images and also offers dollops of customization for people who like to have their hand in every last detail - and of course it has optical zoom (2.3x) that very few other phones can claim (the iPhone 7 Plus offers 2x optical zoom, just for reference)
- Good front camera too
Battery
- Outstanding battery life - boasts a huge 5, 000mAh battery that puts two-day battery life well within reach
- Good charging speed too - goes from 0 to 50% in an hour
More
- Hi-Res audio support and DTS:X virtual surround sound make for a good audio experience
- On the whole, given the competition, the Asus Zenfone Zoom S might not be the best overall phone in its category, but it will not disappoint if camera is your priority
