Design
- Simple, good looking design, with a 6.19-inch HD+ display with a “traditional” wide notch at the front
- The metal back panel gives this phone a premium look and feel
- The rounded edges and sides make it comfortable to hold
- The fingerprint scanner at the back is quick, accurate, and well-positioned
- Face recognition is quick too, though it only works well in well-lit environments
- The volume buttons are positioned a little too high, needing a stretch to reach
Display
- Decent 6.19-inch IPS LCD screen, with good color reproduction
Software
- Infinix's custom XOS UI is decent and fairly intuitive as far Android UIs go, an adds a lot of additional functionality (Game Boost, Whatsapp mode, Freezer, AIBox, Smart panel)
- Unfortunately, it also packs a lot of bloatware that tends to give spammy notifications (although thankfully this can be removed)
Performance
- An ample 6GB of RAM means that apps tend to stay in memory longer once loaded, so multi-tasking is a bit smoother
- Overall performance is only average here though, with a relatively weak Helio P22 (similar to Snapdragon 625) - day-to-day performance is fine of course, but this is definitely not the fastest phone of this price range, and you will notice that in things like app load times
- The phone also tends to get a bit warm when gaming
Camera
- Low-light shots are relatively good, and the phone manages to keep noise under control
- Overall image quality from both the rear and front dual cameras is only average though
- Shots taken during the day tend to be overexposed
- Portraits taken using the bokeh mode show decent edge detection, but it isn't very consistent
- Video recording is average too - with no stabilisation
Battery
- Very good battery life with a large 4000mAh battery - you will typically get 1.5 days of use
Verdict
- While the Infinix Hot 7 Pro has been marketed as the cheapest phone with 6GB of RAM, it's overall performance is only average on account of the relatively weak processor - you will find both better performance, and better overall value in competing phones like Realme 3, Redmi Note 7, and the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2
