Design
- Very good, premium design for the price - yes, it comes with a plastic build, but the ergonomics of the device really give you a feeling of holding something premium
- The shiny reflective back is definitely an eye turner
- Apart from looking good, the phone is also comfortable and ergonomic to hold
- The shiny back of course is also a fingerprint magnet
Display
- Decent display with good brightness levels, and sunlight legibility
- The resolution is on the low side
Software
- The XOS custom skin, like most Chinese brand skins is inspired by iOS, and is reasonably functional, but is on the heavier side, full of color and overloaded with animations
- There are also lots of notification ads that you have to deal with (can be disabled though)
- Unlike most other phones with a notch, there is no software feature here to hide the notch
Performance
- Ordinary performance with the ultra-budget Snapdragon 430 SoC alongside 3GB of RAM - it's only meant for basic use and starts lagging with heavier apps
Camera
- The AI-supported dual rear cameras are the pretty good - and perform very well for the price bracket
- They hold their own in a variety of conditions - colors are accurate, there is a good amount of sharpness, there is enough detail, the focus works well, and the images overall look good
- The portrait mode is decent too
- Low light photography, while not as good as the daylight performance, is decent too - the AI helps here too in producing well-balanced images
- Decent front camera too for selfies
Audio
- Decent call quality
- Average speaker - at higher volumes, it starts to crack
Battery
- Very good battery life - the 4000mAh battery coupled with the battery efficient Snapdragon 430 SoC means you can get almost 2 days of battery life with the device
Verdict
- To put it very simply, the Infinix Hot S3x is positioned as a good design, good camera, good battery phone - so it will be a good choice for light/basic users
- On the other hand, performance is a weakness - so if you are a more power user, look elsewhere
