Design
- Impressive sleek design, with a glossy gradient finish at the back
- Quite lightweight at 155 grams, and due to its compact size, it fits into the hand perfectly
- Fast fingerprint scanner - apart from unlocking the phones, it also allows you to take photos, accept calls, browse through pictures, and dismiss alarms using gestures
- Fast face unlock
- Due to its glossy finish, the phone attracts lots of smudges at the back panel (though Infinix does thankfully ship a TPU case in the box)
Display
- Modern, vibrant, 6.26-inch water-drop notch display, with good viewing angles
- Sunlight legibility is especially good, unlike many other budget phones
- Eye care mode allows for a comfortable reading experience at night
Software
- Infinix's custom XOS UI has a decent set of additional features, including XClub (customer forum), XHide (to hide pictures, videos), Phone Master app (to free up RAM to boost performance), gesture support, and a smart panel to the left of the first home screen
- You can also do plenty of UI customisations with the XTheme app
- There is unfortunately plenty of bloatware too, as is often the case with such custom UIs
Performance
- Decent performance in day-to-day use with a modest Helio P22 (similar to Snapdragon 625) at the core
- There is plenty of competition though that packs better processors in this price bracket (especially from Xiaomi and Realme), and will give much smoother gaming performance - so if you are a power user, then the S4 might not be your best choice
Camera
- Decent triple camera setup on the rear - 13MP primary camera + 8MP ultra-wide camera + 2MP depth camera - one of the rare phones to offer a triple camera setup in this price bracket
- Daylight shots are above average with good clarity and overall colour reproduction - the phone also does an excellent job of capturing macro shots
- Auto-focus is fast
- The quality of the wide-angle camera is decent too, and it gives you interesting picture framing options, especially when shooting landscapes
- Good 32MP front camera - takes clear and crisp selfies - and is pretty decent in indoor lighting as well
- Both rear and front cameras also have a decent bokeh mode
- Overall, this is one of the best camera setups in this price bracket
- Low light performance of the rear cameras is average
Battery
- Very good battery life with a large 4000mAh battery - you can expect a day and a half of use with moderate usage
Verdict
- Overall, despite a modest processor, the phone is one of the better contenders in the entry-level budget segment - with 2 key USPs - a good battery life and a good camera setup - if you are a light smartphone user, and not into gaming, it's certainly worth considering - if however you are more of a power user, you should look at alternatives from Xiaomi and Realme
