2-Minute Review

Let's cut through the noise, and get to the crux of it. 3 Expert Reviews analysed and summarised by the PhoneCurry Editorial Team, in a short and sweet 2-minute review.

  • Decent design, with a plastic back and a metal frame, and an overall good build quality
  • Compact form factor, light-weight
  • There are round-edges on the phone and it comes with a curved back which makes the device comfortable to hold in hands
  • Comfortable single handed use
  • Decent fingerprint sensor, as well as face unlock

  • Decent, tall display - the phone features a 5.45-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with 720 x 1440 pixels resolution - colors come out looking good
  • Sunlight legibility could have been a bit better
  • With the relatively small display (by modern standards), the phone is not meant for those who love watching movies and videos on a large screen - it's rather targeted at those who might value ergonomics more

  • Lenovo's ZenUI over Android is pretty decent - the user interface does not feature app drawer and all apps are right on the home screen - the software is overall quite clean with some limited bloatware - and the UI is fast and easy to use - transition animations are smooth with no noticeable lag

  • Decent performance for day-to-day use - which is all you should expect in this price range - heavier games are a no-go

  • Decent rear and front cameras on the whole, given the price bracket - can take decent shots in well-lit conditions
  • The rear camera also comes with a software bokeh effect which works reasonably well
  • Low light performance is pretty average though, as expected

  • Huge 4000mAh Battery gives you a day and a half of use, with moderate usage

  • The A5 is a decent option especially for someone who wants to prioritise battery life - but it will face stiff competition from better 'all rounder' phones in this price bracket - like the Redmi 6A and Realme C1 - both of which offer better chipsets
