Design
- Good, reassuring build quality
- Accurate fingerprint reader
- Very bulky, heavy - and the size could definitely be a deal breaker especially if you have small hands
- The aluminium body and glass screen tend to sustain fine scratches (so using a case would be a good idea)
Display
- The 6.4-inch screen is beautiful, sharp, and great for apps and media
Software
- The first phone with Google's Tango Augmented Reality software - reveals the useful and entertaining possibilities of building AR into a phone allowing you to add cool virtual objects and realities to the world you see on the phone screen - the Phab 2 Pro does this by measuring and tracking the space around you - the possibilities are endless - and Tango is a lot of fun – when it works
- Lenovo's UI over Android is decent, but sometimes rough around the edges
- The apps are sometimes confusing and can be buggy - for example, graphics on some games are terribly low-fi and some are prone to freezing - other apps that measure and track the room don't always work accurately
- Tango itself just doesn't seem very stable - you routinely encounter error messages that the Tango system had crashed, or that apps just couldn't connect to Tango's cam in the first place
Performance
- Decent hardware/performance
- The hardware and performance is decent - but no match for current flagships like the Google Pixel XL and iPhone 7 Plus
- The dozen or so available Tango apps are buggy, unstable, inconsistent or just plain bad, and the phone hardware itself fails to stand on its own
Camera
- Average cameras - photos can be grainy and dull, and sometimes slow to process
Audio
- Average call quality
Battery
- The 4, 000mAh battery is pretty good as long as you don't "Tango" much
- Fast recharge times
- The battery dies a quick death when you use AR
More
- No NFC
- While Tango (AR) is great in theory, it's implementation on the phone leaves a lot to be desired right now
- On the whole, the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro is a cool toy for developers to unlock the potential of augmented reality but there may be better options in this price bracket for a regular user
