2-Minute Review

Let's cut through the noise, and get to the crux of it. 1 Expert Review analysed and summarised by the PhoneCurry Editorial Team, in a short and sweet 2-minute review.

  • Sleek, svelte, stand-out design, with a beautiful secondary screen rectangle at the back
  • The Meizu is easy to hold in one hand, thanks to a screen with very little bezel on the sides and an overall narrow chassis
  • Of course the USP of the Pro 7 is the eye-catching secondary screen at the back - in its default mode, the Pro 7's second screen acts as a clock and weather forecast widget, and swiping left takes you to the step counter - of course, it also shows notifications - all in all it's one of those things that you don't really 'need' - but if you have it, you can get used to it, and its pretty useful

  • Good Full HD Super AMOLED panel - what's nice about this screen is that you can adjust its vibrancy and temperature to match your personal tastes - otherwise too, the stuff on the screen is eye-catching and vibrant, the blacks are really deep, and viewing angles are good too

  • The custom UI of Meizu over Android will take some time getting used to (especially because it does not have the standard Android navigation buttons) - and is also buggy at places

  • Good all-round performance backed by a capable MediaTek Helio P25 - it will cope well with pretty much everything you throw at it, including high-def games - and performance will be smooth throughout

  • Another interesting way in which the secondary screen is put to use is as as the camera viewfinder - that means you no longer need to use the front camera to take a selfie - you can use the better sensors on the dual camera and take a selfie with the rear snappers instead - which is rather clever
  • Decent rear (dual) and front cameras - they do especially well in good light, and can takes some really good pictures in the "pro" mode - the bokeh shots from the rear camera are decent too
  • The tap to focus on the rear camera is a bit iffy

  • Good battery life - even heavy users should get through a full day without needing to plug it in
  • Fast charging support - goes from 0-100 in roughly an hour, which is perfectly fast enough for anyone
