Design
- All-metal unibody design
- Excellent build quality
- The rear of the phone has a curved design which makes the phone comfortable to hold and provides good grip on the device
- The entire front has 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass 3 for protection, and that adds to the overall look of the phone too
- Very good Super AMOLED display - delivers fantastic black levels and colours pop-out onscreen for photos, videos as well as on the icons - it further impresses with slim bezels - the phone has 86% screen to body ratio which is excellent
- Excellent fingerprint scanner - one of the fastest, and most accurate ones out there
Software
- There are a few handy features built-in on the software front of the display also - such as eye protection mode or black and white mode, as well as customization for saturation, temperature and contrast of the display as per preference
- Micromax's custom UI is quite zippy - although it still has some bloatware and is still not as refined as the more mature UIs from HTC, Samsung, Xiaomi and others
- Other software features include a built-in SecureVault to create an alternative secure space on your phone with private files/photos/messages, a customizable Smart key on the left side, and an Anti-Theft feature
Performance
- Good overall hardware performance - seamless multi-tasking, fast app launch and butter smooth gaming experience
- Performance is pretty good, but definitely not top-notch, with devices like the Lenovo Z2 Plus (with the Snapdragon 820 chipset) offering more flagship-grade performance at an even lower price point
Camera
- Very good rear camera performance - this is where the phone truly shines, with an excellent dual 13MP camera setup - the image quality is on-par with a good point and shoot camera in daylight conditions, and is acceptable indoors too
- Tons of camera features too - background blur mode, slow motion video recording, time-lapse, digital image stabilization, pro mode, panorama mode, black and white mode, macro mode, anti-haze and slow shutter mode
- There are other phones offering dual camera setup in this range and even lower, but Micromax Dual 5 does well with its sharper image quality
- The rear camera is very good but image processing time is on the slow side
- The front camera is decent but not as good as the rear camera, and generally produces soft details
Audio
- Good call quality
- Good loudspeaker output
Battery
- Good battery life - its 3, 200mAh battery easily lasts one full day, even with heavy use
- Support for Quick Charge 3.0
More
- Extra large 128GB internal storage
- Video quality is above average too
