Design
- Micromax Infinity N12 is one the most well-designed smartphones from the company - the front sports a large display with a notch at the top - and the side bezels are minimal (though the chin is a bit thick)
- The back panel is made of plastic, but it moulded in such a fashion that it gives a premium look and feel - there is a nice looking (and very 'Honor-like') dual-tone finish at the back
- The phone feels quite comfortable to hold and it does not slip from your hands, like most of the glass panel-infused smartphones these days
Display
- Average display - the display is one area where Micromax lags competition - colors are not very sharp, and brightness levels are average
Software
- Micromax has tried to give a near stock experience on this smartphone - the company’s 360 UI is fairly light and refined
- Many of the pre-installed apps are riddled with ads though and do not bring anything useful to the table - for example, the ‘Game Center' is basically a store for Web-based mobile games, but you can barely play any of them without having to watch ads - the same goes for the ‘Mi Browser', ‘App Center' and ‘Around', all of which offer half-baked experiences with the added annoyance of ads, pop-up notifications, and slow interfaces
Performance
- Decent performance with a MediaTek Helio P22 chipset (similar to Snapdragon 626/626) at the core - the phone responds well when it comes normal usage and a bit of multi-tasking - and it's also able to handle most of the casual gaming effectively
Camera
- Reasonably decent selfie camera
- Average dual camera setup at the rear - the phone is particularly slow in processing images, and the images are less than sharp
- Low light shots are below average as the photos came out of noisy and full of grains
Battery
- Good battery life with a 4000mAH battery - you will comfortably get a full day of use even with heavy usage
Verdict
- The Infinity N12 is a decent phone on it's own, and one of the better designed phones to come out of the Micromax stable - but it will find it tough to compete in this super-competitive price bracket, especially because of an ordinary display and ordinary camera
