2-Minute Review

Let's cut through the noise, and get to the crux of it. 13+ Expert Reviews analysed and summarised by the PhoneCurry Editorial Team, in a short and sweet 2-minute review.

  • Gorgeous, compact folding design - Motorola has made some refinements on the last year's Razr's design and it now feels more premium and solid
  • It still shares the same form and footprint as the previous Razr - it gives you the full functionality of a regular phone when open, and when folded it's the size of a small coaster that can even fit in your shirt pocket
  • The outside display is also improved - Motorola calls it a QuickView display, it helps you use the phone when it's folded, you can check your notifications, change songs without having to unfold the phone
  • Motorola has made some minor alterations to the hinge too, it still functions as the previous Razr - it’s easy to open with one hand and closes with a hearty, satisfying snap
  • The fingerprint sensor is now moved to the back of the phone and is still fast and accurate
  • There's some gap between the screen and the hinge - and overtime dirt or particles might fall into the phone and muck up the gears
  • When folding and unfolding the phone, there are some noticeable creaking noises, which was an issue with the last Razr too

  • The main foldable display remains the same 6.2 inch OLED, with deep blacks as the last Razr - when unfolded, the display works well for typing, tapping and swiping, just like a regular phone
  • The outside front-facing 2.7-inch OLED mini screen is useful - it allows you to see your notifications, and interact with certain elements of your phone, without unfolding it
  • The main display isn’t the highest-quality foldable screen on the market - the resolution is still HD+, and there's no high refresh rate option, which is expected from a phone at this price
  • When unfolded, the screen isn’t quite a flat surface, you can feel the hinge and other ridges as you run your finger up and down the screen

  • Simple, uncluttered stock Android UI, with some very useful Moto customisations - Moto phones continue to offer one of the best software experiences on Android

  • Good performance from the Snapdragon 765G SOC - all apps and games load reasonably briskly, the phone has enough power for pretty much everything you want to do
  • This isn't the highest-end chipset expected from a phone at this price

  • Decent 48MP main camera, it is located at the back of the phone when unfolded - it can also be used to take crisp high-resolution selfies by folding the phone and using the outside display as the viewfinder
  • The main camera produces nice-looking images with true-to-life colors and plenty of detail
  • Decent portraits from the main camera, it can also be used to take selfie portraits
  • The 20MP selfie camera at the inside of the phone is also much improved - it is great for video calls in addition to taking some nice looking selfies
  • Low-light and zoomed in photos are soft and look like a painting because of noise reduction - there is a Night Vision mode that can help, but it works best in medium-to-low lighting versus situations where it's dark
  • It doesn’t have many of the photography features you’d find on even most mid-range phones, which again is disappointing on a phone this expensive

  • Decent battery life with the 2800 mAh battery - will last a day with regular use
  • 15W fast charging isn't very fast - it can boost it to about 40 percent in 30 minutes

  • It's an improvement upon its predecessor in every way, with faster performance, better cameras, longer battery life, 5G, and more - and with Motorola's enhancements to the Peek Display, it can genuinely change the way you use your phone
  • The Motorola Razr is an expensive phone and it isn't best at anything it does - it's simply a charming phone at folds in half - if you want a regular phone, there are better options available at this price
