Design
- Eye-catching, unique design - it is hard to ignore how good the 8 Sirocco looks - gone is the metal unibody of its predecessor (Nokia 8), instead, you have a mix of stainless steel and strengthened Gorilla Glass 5
- The 8 Sirocco is just 7.5mm at its thickest point, and tapers down to 2mm around the spines, which makes it look incredibly thin
- Comfortable to hold and use
- Waterproof design
- The buttons have been designed to sit nearly flush with the phone so it’s not easy to tell the power and volume buttons apart without looking directly at them
Display
- Nice display - the slightly curved screen has thin bezels, which give the illusion of an edge-to-edge viewing experience - the screen is bright, with rich colours (viewing angles could have been better though)
Software
- Clean Android experience - this is the first Nokia flagship phone that is part of Google’s Android One initiative - much like the pure Android seen in phones earlier, this too is untouched by bloatware or third-party apps—the only tweak is the camera app, to better utilize the optical hardware - and of course the Android One line means that you will receive Android updates for a minimum of 2 years
Performance
- Packs plenty of brute power with the Snapdragon 835 processor, and 6GB of RAM - it will sail through anything you throw at it, and the performance is comparable to other top-end flagship phones
Camera
- Good set of dual rear cameras - the captured images are genuinely good in colour and detailing - bokeh images are pretty good too, and so is low light performance - on the whole, the camera, although not class-leading, is not that far behind the the top cameras on the Google Pixel 2 or the Samsung Galaxy S9
- Decent front camera too - captures decently detailed selfies, especially during the day
Audio
- No 3.5mm jack - so your existing headphones won't work, and you will have to do with the bundled USB-C headphones
- Stereo speakers are also missed here, and would have been nice to have, given the price bracket
Battery
- Good battery life - will easily last an entire day with medium to heavy usage
- Fast charging support - you can get a 50 percent charge in 30 minutes
- Wireless charging support
More
- No Dual SIM support
- On the whole, the Nokia 8 Sirocco is a good phone on its own and ticks all the right boxes, but faces some tough competition from the likes of the Google Pixel 2 and the HTC U11 at this price point, and the excellent value-for-money OnePlus 5T at an even lower price point - if aesthetics is on the top of your checklist when buying a phone, then this makes for a good candidate - but for mostly everything else, Google, HTC, or OnePlus offerings may be a better buy
