Design
- The glossy, all-glass, 'ambient flow' design is a major redesign for the Xperia XZ series - it's unique undoubtedly (whether you like it or not might be a more subjective call)
- The curved design makes it comfortable to hold
- The design is unique, but it's also chubby and slippery
- The placement of the fingerprint sensor makes it too easy to press the camera lens instead
Display
- Trendy new 18:9 display with HDR support - it is both vibrant and quite immersive - at par with other flagship phones
Software
- Sony's UI is decent as far as Android UIs go, but it does have a lot of apps, that duplicate the functionality of Google's core Android apps
Performance
- Performance is top-notch powered by the Snapdragon 845 beast inside, which handles anything and everything you throw at it, without breaking a sweat
Camera
- Good set of feature-packed rear and front cameras (though they are not quite up to the quality level of a Pixel 2 or a Galaxy S9)
- Unique video recording capabilities - 1080p 960fps videos and the HDR videos in 4K and 1080p at 24 fps, and high-quality super-slow-motion video are unique propositions
Audio
- Loud and clear stereo speaker system - complete with the unique Dynamic Vibration System (an extra layer of haptic feedback) - the combination of the powerful speakers and cool vibration feature make games and videos feel larger than life
- Overall audio quality is fantastic too
- No 3.5mm audio jack, so you won't be able to use your existing headphones without an adapter
Battery
- Very good battery life - you will get a solid day and a half of usage
- Fast charging
More
- On the whole, the XZ2 is a good phone that is overshadowed by better ones - the features that really differentiate the XZ2 from its competition - dynamic vibration, super-slow-mo at 1080p and 4K HDR video - aren't things you are going to use very often - so, if overall value is what you are looking for then the likes of Huawei P20 Pro or Samsung Galaxy S9 will make more sense
