Design
- Looks gorgeous and gives you a premium feel when you hold it in your hand - the glossy polycarbonate finish at the back panel with lining pattern making it quite attractive
- The front looks impressive with uninterrupted notch-less screen that goes from edge to edge
- The fingerprint scanner is pretty fast and accurate
- Feels quite hefty, weighing at 203g
Display
- Modern, large 6.53-inch IPS LCD panel, with thin bezels and a slight chin - the screen is a good and produces accurate colours and - the edge-to-edge display gives the phone a seamless feel which makes viewing media like pictures and movies more immersive
- Sunlight legibility is decent
Software
- The Camon 15 Pro runs Android 10 out-of-the-box with Tecno’s HiOS UI on top - the skin is a tad too much for users looking for a simple, minimal interface and if you're used to phones featuring a closer to stock Android skin, the Tecno might take some time getting used to
- There's also plenty of bloat that comes pre-installed
Performance
- Average performance with the old MediaTek Helio P35 - at this price this chipset is unacceptable, there are phones that offer much better performance at this price, like the Redmi Note 9 Pro
Camera
- Decent set of quad cameras - 48MP primary sensor + 5MP ultra-wide sensor + 2MP depth sensor + 0.3MP low light sensor
- Pictures from the main sensor are decent, colours are accurate and image processing is not too heavy
- The ultra-wide lens also takes decent photos, with good software optimisation to remove the warping on the edges (though, the resolution is low at just 5MP)
- In low light, pictures turns out bright and colourful (though some details are lost)
- Selfies by the 32-megapixel front camera are bright and vivid (though, facial details are sometimes not very clear, even without the beauty filters, which is something you may or may not desire)
Connectivity
- The lack of a USB Type-C port on a mid-range device at this price is extremely disappointing
Battery
- Decent battery life with 4000 mAh battery, easily last you a full working day
- The lack of a fast-charging is disappointing
Verdict
- The Tecno Camon 15 Pro doesn't really offer anything unique or outstanding to recommend it, and there's nothing it excel at - if all you want is a pop-up selfie camera, get the Infinix S5 Pro, it offers everything at a much lower price - if you're looking for an all rounder, look into the Realme or Redmi camp
