Design
- Stylish, slick, premium looks (looks more expensive than it is), good build quality
- The rear camera module has a copper accent on the edges, which further adds to the premium-ness
- The front is modern with a 6.53-inch FHD+ IPS display with a dewdrop notch, and minimal bezels
- Both the fingerprint scanner, and face unlock are quick
- Somewhat bulky
Display
- The IPS display is crisp, and boasts good legibility and viewing angles
Software
- Vivo's Funtouch UI is one of the heavier Android skins around, and packs plenty of bloatware - which means that if you like your phones simple and fuss-free, it's not the best option around
Performance
- Very good performance for the price category with a powerful Snapdragon 675 at the core - it delivers smooth performance not just in daily use, but high-end games like PUBG
Camera
- Decent triple-camera setup at the back: 16-megapixel primary lens + 8-super-wide-angle lens + 2-megapixel super macro lens - in good lighting conditions, the images shot offer good exposure as well as good color production
- Fast focus speed
- Good portrait mode - blurs the background quite well and gives you good bokeh effect
- Good 16-megapixel front facing camera - works well in both day-light and low-light conditions, and has a good portrait mode too
- Overall, the camera setup on the U20 is pretty decent for the price bracket (but not the best)
- The super-wide angle camera, and the macro camera, while offering some interesting framing options, are not that good in terms of image quality
- Low light camera performance from the rear camera setup is average (the Night mode does help a bit though)
Connectivity
- Uses the old microUSB port, instead of the modern USB-C standard
Battery
- Excellent battery life with a large 5000mAh battery - you should get a comfortable 2 days of use
- Fast charging support (18W) - you can recharge your phone's battery in about two-and-half hours
Verdict
- If you value performance, battery and design in your phone, the the U20 is another excellent option from Vivo, after its popular predecessor, the U10 - the only area where it lags a little behind the competition from Xiaomi and Realme is the cameras
